For some reason, I thought the items she carries are buckets - maybe her hide-out shack doesn't have plumbing, and she has to haul water. But even if they are suitcases, the two horizontal lines differentiate them from Markson and Snicket's suitcases, with two vertical lines on the ends. The hand-bag gap could be attributed to just rough drawing.

This photo just appeared in the all the wrong questions tag. It seems there is another attaché case. I can make out the soap and the Ink Inc notebook, but I'm at a loss as to what the other items are. I have contacted the poster asking about it.

I've been looking at the illustrations we have, both old and new, and thinking about what plot points they imply: Reason for Editing: punctuation and grammar

Received this reply:
Hello! I got it by listing my email to this address: lemonysnicket@euk.egmont.com
And inside it:
* An exclusive sneak peek from the book. The first two chapters from the book
* A Stain’d-By-The-Sea pen
* A Thanks for visiting Stain’d-By-The-Sea sticker
* A Stain’d-By-The-Sea piece of rock
* An INK INC notepad
*A Lost Arms Luggage Label
* A Lemony Snicket card
* A suede/ moleskin briefcase which in gold writing has the words ‘L. Snicket’
All in all, rather brilliant!

The hand-bag gap could be attributed to just rough drawing. I think Ellington's hideout might possibly be part of the Sallis mansion, as she can see the hawser and Snicket's fall from it quite clearly from there. As for the new Apprentice Case - how many of those things did they give out? And more importantly, how did we British members manage to miss out on a promotion that's actually situated in our country? I didn't see it advertised anywhere - I suspect it was on Egmont's Twitter, but Twitter's having loading issues and I can't follow their tweets back too far. Nice cover to the preview booklet, though!

Are there any other remnants of this promotion? And how exactly did the receiver attain this Case by e-mail? Surely there must have been a mailing address of some sort involved.

I think basically it would be helpful if Brunch could ask for more details of what the promotion was, as we're having difficulty tracing it (Twitter's still not letting me go back too far, so I can't tell if it was on there).

I have done just that, and am waiting on a reply. Edit: All I got was:
For those asking about the Lemony Snicket case, I think I was just very, very lucky. Feel free to leave your email to lemonysnicket@euk.egmont.com too.
Well that's totally helpful. Maybe it was a kind of prize draw? Still it can't hurt to send them my email address. I'm beginning to wonder if it really is "free" and if it isn't one of those kinds of promotions that is "free" except for £5.99 for postage, which isn't really free at all.

That e-mail address is the one which Egmont is using to send its own ATWQ promo e-mails. Maybe this person decided to reply, and, in the first time in forever, replying to an automated e-mail actually got them something? That's kind of a swizz if nobody knew that would happen.

I better shouldn't try because I'm not in Britain and I would probably have to pay (more). But please tell me what happens.

I had been pondering over what the tumblr user had given us, and thought it wouldn't hurt to send an e-mail to the address in hopes of some sort of reply. I only recieved an "Out of Office AutoReply" reading:
"Mr. Snicket is out of the office due to various implausibilities.
If this is an emergency contact the authorities.
Are you one of the lucky twenty?
This is the wrong question."
This could be a possible explanation for her choice in words. A lucky twenty to receive the attaché case? Just a theory.

What the heck. I didn't even get an auto-reply when I tried it. But I think that makes it clear that there must have been some sort of contest that we didn't know about. ...Twitter still won't let me track back more than about ten days on the EgmontUK Twitter, which makes me suspicious as they aren't reporting a problem on their status page. But if there was a contest I'm sure it must have been there. Heaven knows they don't mention anything of importance or indeed anything ATWQ-related at all on their other sites.

Maybe it's just the point that nobody knows about it, they didn't want people to try to get one on purpose?

That doesn't strike me as a very good promotion for your upcoming major new series, to be honest. I wouldn't rule it out as a kind of hidden bonus, and Egmont's promotions in the past have been kind of dubiously organised, but still...

Can you even call it a promotion if nobody knows about it? Surely even if this wasn't advertised pre-contest, it would be advertised post-contest.
