667 has 6,392members at last check, and in my time here – despite recent inactivity – I have met plenty of compassionate, friendly people, several of which I have come to consider good friends. Members shape a board, and, as I think it is safe to call this site friendly, we must have a lot of nice people. However, nine particular 667ers have been recognised for their kindness and compassion toward other members… and I now present: the nominees for the prestigious “Most Compassionate” award of 2011:
First up, the newly nineteen-year-old LSWannaBe is full of fun and kindness; she is well admired around 667, and rightly so.
Tiago Squalor is, quite simply, a really great 667er - cheerful, friendly, kind and dedicated. Has taken on the daunting task of writing a thirteen-book sequel to ASoUE, and does it splendidly.
Bryan, I’m afraid I hardly know you, but I’m sure you deserved this nomination.
colette; I don’t know you either, but I’m sure you’re compassionate, too, and I look forward to getting to know both of you.
Willis –a great member to have around; I’ve never seen him be rude to anyone. A deserving nominee.
Next is - Lemona Snicket… oh, that’s me. Well, I’m flattered at being nominated.
Vindictive Villager csc is pleasant, compassionate, cheerful, interesting and knows what to say to members in any situation.
Emma “Emmz” Squalor embraces all of us here, and does a wonderful job as a moderator. I’m sure you’d all agree – she is full of compassion.
And finally: Hermes; a well-renowned and respected member, probably all over Dark Avenue, too, not just at this building. I’ve had several very pleasant exchanges with Hermes, and this site wouldn’t be the same without him.
Well, there they stand – together – nine 667ers plucked from the 6,392 as being full of compassion, loyalty and kindness:
But only one can win (usually).
Stay tuned.
Ok. Time now.
The winner of the 2011 Dreadful Darkies “Most Compassionate” award is (feel free to shut your eyes and count to twenty before reading on, to build suspense)…
The lovely Emma “Emmz” Squalor!
Congratulations! You totally deserve this award. You’ve been such a great friend to me and so many other 667ers, and are probably one of the most compassionate people I’ve had the honor of knowing. I can’t wait to see your banner.
PS - If anyone is thinking of BSam's speech, I am not being a copycat with the scroll-down thing. I wrote my speech before seing his. L.

Congratulations to all the winners so far! You've earned your honours. --- Ladies, Gentlemen, and all those Indeterminate, It has been my privilege and my duty to serve as a moderator of 667 Dark Avenue, and in the many years I’ve been doing so, many more new members have passed beneath my venerable gaze. Some flit only briefly through our grand doors before scurrying back into the shadows of the unknown, but others have lingered, not languishing but distinguishing themselves, coming to occupy a well-known and well-worn part of the machinery of our great state. They are like dusky lumps of coal, come tumbling into our fireplace to burst forth with the glowing light of truth, joy, and reason. Yea, these are those eligible for the 667 Dark Avenue Darkies Awards 2011’s much-coveted Most Improved award, a title wrought from the pure carbon nanotubes of our respect for them. Though once they, as once did we all, waited in the anonymous hordes of the yet-to-come, they endured with great fortitude all the trials that apathy and ignominy could bring to bear, and rose, like gaudy balloons filled with the hot air of a pompous speech, rose ever higher to take a place in the broad grand heavens of the future, veritable stars fuelled by their everlasting glory, burning, burning so powerfully that we might have a light to read by in bed, a distant but benevolent old hand to lead us on our tremulous way along the hidden paths their shining feet of iron once beat. And truthfully do I say “they,” for improvement is a treasure which no one person can hold alone. It is the treasure that awaits all of us in a polished chest that any of us can seek, and then seek the gleaming key for, as we navigate the uncharted waters of our unfixed souls, eyes ever-watchful for the island where we can break from the storm, found a homeland that is truly our own, plumb the caverns of self-knowledge, and stumble upon the chest I was just talking about. All of us can improve, from the very oldest to the very youngest, and it is evidently in that spirit that the people of 667 Dark Avenue, you cunning interlocutors of mine, have selected the candidates worthy of this, the honour that inaugurates a person’s passing from the infancy of ignorance to the proud adulthood of wisdom. Democracy has never before led us wrong, I am assured, and thus I cannot imagine it has led us wrong here. To those naysayers who ask, eyes rolling foolishly, “What is the world coming to?”, we can nod sagely, placid in our self-assurance, and point to these high-born winners of our esteem. The noble nominees for this noblest of awards were as follows, here to be recorded for all of time, and the perusal of both the curious of today and their eager-minded descendants: colette Tragedy Leanora Crowe And the winners of this award, the ones who’ll save us all, the bearers of all of our promise and hope for the future, are… colette and Tragedy!

Dear 667,
I must say, it is an absolute privilege to be asked to present the Best Writer Award. Though my time in Fearsome Fiction has come and gone, it is fantastic to see how much talented writers we have presently and how much members still value its place - and Chaotic Creativity - in the forum. Being a gifted writer cannot be merely simplified into one award win. Talent comes in may shapes and forms, and it depends on how we see the world to appreciate the talents that we do. There are people out there that think Daniel Handler cannot write for toffee - and I think it's safe to say we as a forum disagree.
However, only one can win this particular award.
So without further ado, here are the nominees.
Tiago Squalor LSWannaBe Violet Marie Dante nominatissima Emma Squalor
And the winner is... nominatissima! Congratulations, a well deserved win.

colette and Tragedy: Congratulations, you two; you should be very proud of yourselves! And seriously smashing speech, Dante! Lady Whatever: Congratulations! Once again, it has been great having you as a new member, and I've really enjoyed reading your stories and poems. You have an amazing talent, and I'm so glad you've decided to share it with us. And awesome speech, Shelly; I'm so glad you were able to participate in the awards again this year. @tiago: Congratulations, sweetie! Your art has brought so much joy to both "Aggravating Art" and "Chaotic Creativity" in the past year and a half. I'll never forget how it was your beautiful drawing of Esme in her pinstripe suit that brought us together as friends. And nice speech, freebird. @everyone: Thank you so much, for your "Most Compassionate" votes and congratulations. I am truly humbled and honored. In the almost-four years I've been a 667er, I feel I've grown as both a person and the writer I hope to be one day. I've formed some very close friendships, too, and that is by far the best part of being a member of the greatest message board ever. Long live 667 Dark Avenue! ;D P.S: Thank you so much for that beautiful speech, Lemona. ^^

Pairings are important in ASOUE - romantic pairings like Lemony and Beatrice, Sir and Charles, Violet and Quigley, and others like the sinister duo or the white faced women.
Pairings are also important at 667. Today we honour a few of the most significant.ones.
Dante and Emma Squalor are splendid moderators, who have helped to make Burdensome Books and Frustrating Fanwork, respectively, worthwhile places to be.
Tiago Squalor and colette were notable enemies, but seem now to have been reconciled, which shows great nobility.
Very Funky Disco and freebird are friends, whose contributions, especially in Fearsome Fiction, have stimulated much thought about the characters and world of ASOUE.
Emma Squalor and Tiago Squalor are, I believe, cousins of Jerome Squalor who play a shadowy part in the world of Yet Another Series of Unfortunate Events. They are also friends in real life.
Tragedy and Beyonce are both fierce. (Beyonce isn't a member of 667 so far as I know, but hey, one of last year's nominees was a sheep.)
BSam, one of our oldest members, and nominatissima, one of our newest, have built a generation-spanning friendship.
And the winners are -
Wait a moment. There are three pairs of winners.
Tragedy and Beyonce. Emma Squalor and Tiago Squalor Very Funky Disco and freebird.
Congratulations to you all!
