just want to say i'm am very eager to write something, but i do not want to write the first few chapters, set up is not my forte That's good to know; while I want to keep things flexible, it does help to be able to narrow down that flexibility a bit.

I very much want to come up with something for this but I've been particularly busy this week. I'll try to come up with something later if I have the time. ^^

Will you be needing anyone to be an editor at some point? I could write chapters too, but I think my skill set is better suited for helping bring out the best in other writers. Whatever the heads think they need me for.

I haven't been able to come up with any ideas as of yet, but am all for going in whatever direction you guys decide on. I'm perfectly happy to write any chapter, too, just as long as it isn't the last one. (I am never sure how or where to end a story, so I'd probably end up holding everyone else back.) Since I tend to write very slowly, I'd be happy to split a chapter with anyone who's looking to collaborate. Lady Whatever: It would be wonderful if you could edit my part. I always self edit my stories and chapters, which can take up to four days and sometimes longer, depending on the length. Even with the time I put in, I'll often end up overlooking a typo, or thinking of something to add after I've already posted. I've always found the editing process runs a lot more smoothly when it isn't your own writing, so if you could help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

I hadn't actually been planning on using editors, but if people really want proof-readers, I'll arrange it, then! And by that I mean that I will do it if people ask, and sort out someone else if I am really busy or unless people have a specific request for someone else (i.e. Emma and nominatissima, above).

I started a fic recently, but I don't think it'll work. So I will add my idea. I'm not sure if it will work but here it is: The Baudelaires go and live with a rich guardian who cares about being ladylike etc. ("No Violet, a woman should only sew and knit, not inventing.") Later, the guardian wants to find a suitable husband for Violet. Olaf comes and charms the guardian.Actually, it seems terrible to me. I don't know, it really seems a little jarring considering what we usually see in the series concerning gender (or even racial) roles. I'm not saying that the Snicketverse is 100% post-gender-equality but it's veering in that direction, to say the least. When Handler tries to adress these issues he doesn't give them as much focus, or he tries to express them in a more universal way. Many times in the series, for example, he says that xenophobia is bad, but he never names any nationalities. Besides Violet is already a strong empowered young woman, I don't think she'd put up with this sexist rhetoric for long. "PLease, you're just jealous of my crazy inventor swagger."

I would love to contribute a chapter if there is still space available. This sounds like a fantastic idea.

I would love to contribute a chapter if there is still space available. This sounds like a fantastic idea. I'd be happy to have you on board, although you may have to share a chapter. Or you may not. It depends on whether we pick up more authors on the way and who might most feel the need to not get a whole chapter themselves. To reiterate, I have something in the pipeline that I hope will be ready today or tomorrow, and once that's posted, I'm hoping to have my own chapter done tomorrow, too.

--- To My Kind Editor,
I am writing to you from the deck of the abandoned Moth II, where I am researching the terrible events that happened to the Baudelaire orphans during their short stay here.
At exactly 9:21 tomorrow night, go to the intersection of Pink Pony Parade and Robber Road. Unless my enemies have succeeded, a taxi with a copper-haired driver should be waiting for you. Take this taxi to the back of the old bowling centre which you passed last Wednesday. Behind this there is a telephone pole; dig a tunnel from here going due west. Eventually, you should find a submerged post box. Break it open. Inside, you will find my latest installment of the Baudelaire case, entitled THE [torn page], along with a stethoscope, a parasol and two (2) used tickets for the film Realtors in the Cave. There is also a portrait of Captain Alighieri and Ms Janis Salander to aid the illustrators, as well as a can of Alighieri's Special Snake Oil. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should this be opened.
Remember, you are my last hope that the tales of the Baudelaire orphans can finally be told to the general public.
With all due respect,
[the name is torn off] ---

Let's all thank Kensicle for getting us off to a fantastic start. I asked her to do this and I think she's done a great job; it's given me a lot to think about when I write my chapter, and I hope the rest of you will be inspired by her ideas when it's your turn to write!
And on that note: I will be writing my chapter tomorrow morning, about sixteen or seventeen hours from the time I am posting this. In that time, I want to conduct a straw poll among the members here as to the plot direction: Should this story be between TEE and TVV, or TPP and The End? Answer within the next sixteen hours or so and I will write Chapter One based on the results.

I would rather it go between TPP and The End - more intriguing, I think, and I feel having another JS makes more sense after the JS mystery has been raised.

We think she's so great we're referring to her as a man.
(I wonder if this will annoy feminists. I hope not as I'm obviously joking.)

Thanks, Kensicle! And I agree with Hermes, perhaps to include another J.S., between TPP and TE would be the best idea.
