Which is better, because they both seem quite similar..

Based on what I remember of each, I think The Notorious Notations has more trimmings.

I own neither, but I was thinking of purchasing one. I was leaning more towards The Blank Book.

Or, more importantly, are either worth getting?

I have The Notorious Notations and I've never regretted it, if that's what you mean. Really it's just a notebook, but the pages are watermarked with illustrations from the series and the foot of the pages are lined with quotes. The exterior is hardcover and meant to look like a regular book in the series. If you're looking for a Series-themed commonplace book, then this is the sort of thing for which you're looking.

I own both, and Sherry Ann wrote a very apt description of them. One correction would be that only The Blank Book is made to look like a regular book in the series (i.e. the Egmont editions). The Notorious Notations has a similar design to The Beatrice Letters, only with Olaf's silhouette (anyway, you can see the covers on Amazon or something). The cover of TNN is a little classier in my opinion, but both are great and in hardcover. In addition, TNN also includes quotes from books 11+12, and The Blank Book only up until book 11, as it was released before it. But The Blank Book has more pages than TNN, and a page of little square stickers with Helquist's illustrations, which TNN doesn't.

TBB has stickers of both the Brett Helquist drawings and common words or phrases that appear in the series. For example, there are stickers of a lot of the chapter opening drawings from THH (flashlight, intercom, etc. - I'm pretty sure there aren't any originals), and then there are stickers of "Egad," "Drat," and similar words with which you may or may not be able to form sentences.
