I was wasting time on Amazon today, and saw this: Amazon claims that on August 14 it will be releasing the first FOUR chapters for Kindle. It will be available even if you don't have a Kindle; you just have to download the free Kindle Reading App for your computer. I hope that it actually is the first four, and not just the first two again, mistakenly named.

I'm guessing it'll be released in mobi format- that's the kindle's main file type, yeah? My e-reader reads mobi file types, so I'm hoping I'll be able to get it on there.
Thanks for sharing, Q.R.V. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out. Edit: No chance of getting it on a non kindle device, or without a Kindle app.

Cool. Obviously I pre-ordered the book ages ago, but it's always great to get any sneak peaks. Though four chapters sounds more like a sneak eyeful. I hope that it actually is the first four, and not just the first two again, mistakenly named. Hmm. I hope not too. It does seem pretty unusual to release FOUR chapters before the book launches, and at all at the same time what's more.

Great work, QRV! Sure enough, this seems like a variant of the planned early-delivery on the publicity schedule. I wonder if "Snicket delivers Snicket" was postponed, cancelled, or is currently being advertized but under a different name? Four chapters is a reasonable preview, and well before the official release date, too, perhaps implying the full book will soon be available to purchase for select consumers. In fact, the educator's guide almost suggests the same idea - I'll look into this.

The publicity schedule linked above seems to suggest that some time this month there will be a one day mailing to booksellers, libraries etc (I'm guessing only inside the US). However we've seen other things be postponed- most notably the launch of lemonysnicketlibrary, so it possible Snicket delivers Snicket could've been cancelled/postponed. If it was still taking place they would be advertising it on their facebook page and on the website. So if Amazon does indeed have a four chapter preview up, it could well be to fill in for this.

A publicity event as substatial-sounding as Snicket delivers Snicket doesn't strike me as the type to be replaced with a simple preview of the book in question, but it's possible the event could have been postponed (by how much longer I'm not sure - the time to collect entries, select winners, travel to the various locations, and edit the film for "viral digital outreach" has a lengthy outlook at best). Note also this four-chapter preview isn't advertized anywhere that I can see, least of all on their Facebook page, which made me wonder if perhaps other events were in process without our knowledge. Per my investigations, there doesn't appear to be a precise date for the one-day mailing, but then it's possible the target consumers are being contacted directly in which case public information would be limited.

It's the fact that it isn't advertised anywhere else which does worry me slightly, though if it was only a two chapter preview I'm sure Amazon would have it everywhere by now- note that non of the editions on Amazon have their usual "look inside" preview (and two chapters is far more than normal for those). It isn't even advertised too much on amazon, though the first chapter was front page news on EW.com. Searching "All the Wrong Questions" on Amazon doesn't immediately bring up the preview either, although they do seem to have books two, three and four listed. The release dates are ridiculously inaccurate though, and all the books are listed under Egmont.

Aye, I wouldn't put much stock in those listings. It's possible to trace back the ISBNs, but not much else about them appears to be accurate or informational. I expect we'll hear more about this preview from Hachette the day of its release.

As we've seen, plans change, so it's entirely possible this four-chapter preview could be both new and real; it might even have been Amazon's suggestion rather than Hachette's own idea. Regardless, we'll keep a close eye on Amazon next Tuesday, and the moment this preview shows up, we'll have people reporting on whether it's real - and indeed, transcribing it, I'm sure. Still, though, four chapters... how much of this book could they be willing to show off in advance? Well, all of it, if Snicket Delivers Snicket and the early library/bookseller delivery are anything to go by - but for free, I meant.

I agree, I couldn't quite believe it when I read they'd release 4 chapters for free. If it's going to be 13 chapters like in ASoUE, it's almost a third of the book!

Aye, I wouldn't put much stock in those listings. Because they're SO going to relase books 3 and 4 at the same time, and before book 2 as well - How did they keep that secret?

Just a reminder to everyone to keep an eye out for this tomorrow. Nothing in the listing has changed, so my hopes are high the advertizing is accurate.

It also apparently will be on Google Play, if you prefer that format, here EDIT: The preview is here! And it is all four chapters. For some reason, the Amazon version appears temporarily unavailable, but Google Play still has it. I have uploaded a PDF of the new bits here, in case anyone is unable to access it because of format/time zone/country restrictions/doesn't have a credit card. If you want to see the whole thing, both Amazon and Google allow you to read it online once you have "bought" it, so you don't actually need a Kindle/Android/Reading App/other fancy Star Trek gadget.
