I see that they keep releasing the chapters on line for people to read. And on here it said chapters three and four released. I have to admit, sarcastically I thought to myself, 'well jeez, they might as well not even release the book itself if they are just going to continue to give us large excerpts of the chapters.' Is it just the first four chapters (hopefully)? And how many chapters of the first book are there going to be?

The first four chapters are comletely available for free online, they have also been posted here. asoue.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=questions&action=display&thread=31083I don't think we will know how many chapters are going to be there before the book is released. Edit: Oh, I've just read this: Another here: "Who Could That Be at This Hour begins with a cup of drugged tea in a dingy tearoom (and stationery shop) and ends thirteen chapters later with a 12th birthday celebration feast of dusty peanuts. There is quite a load of meandering about in between, much of it involving the non-theft of a not-priceless artifact from a land-locked lighthouse. And coffee grounds.""thirteen chapters later". So there are 13 chapters, what else could we have expected?

Thirteen chapters. For some reason that makes me really, really happy.

No inconsistency for Snicket! All the transcripts we have are here, and it doesn't appear as if anymore will be released. Then again, I made comments concerning the improbability of Chapters One, then Two, then Three and Four being released, so note my certainty on the matter is liable to fault.

I wasn't sure for a while whether there would be thirteen chapters, but changed my mind once we learned they would be numbered. Given that the number of chapters in ASoUE mattered, we would always have questioned the importance of the number of chapters in ATWQ - so it figures that Handler stuck with thirteen.

I'm a little disappointed we don't get a prologue or epilogue, though. The Fourth Question, perhaps ...?
