UPDATE: This is now the Official Who Could That Be at This Hour? Discussion Thread. It has been long enough since the book was released that most interested parties will have either obtained it by now or will be aware to be careful on Lemony Snicket discussion sites, and so spoiler rules have now been suspended. Discuss at your pleasure.

I'm gonna be away for a few days, so now I'm making my comment to the Discussion thread that is going to be made. I loved WCTBATH, but the ending was too loose. I loved all of the callbacks, and lit-refs, and loved how seamlessly they were woven into the narrative. I am now yearning for the next one, and won't shut up about it until it comes out. I love how all along we think that the girl is Beatrice, but it is infact Kit. The ending feels rushed though, as if Hector is just chucked in there just cause. All in all I loved it!

I think the discussion thread to which you're referring is here, Charles. Perhaps you could redirect further commentary on the series there?

No need; I've simply moved the thread over. This is now our official discussion thread for the book.

8:57 AM. The local bookery unfastens its deadbolts at 9. No sign of other volunteers, though a stop sign has been observed showing errant behavior. More to come if all goes horribly as planned.

Good luck avoiding detection, crono288. For my part, I should get on with my reread.

I had to go to Waterstones this morning to cancel my reserved copy- I'm pretty sure it was the only copy they had coming in. I walked round and round the children's book section, but there wasn't sight or sound of any other copies. I need to get on with re-reading it as well- although I was reading it to little sister and she instantly asked me if the butler had done it. Hm.

No, no,the butler only does it in a quite different genre. (Or so I've heard. Actually it's very rare for the butler to do it'; in the sort of detective story which features servants, they are generally absolutely reliable.) There was no copy in my nearest bookshop this morning. I hope to search further later today, but your news is dispiriting.

I hope you can get hold of a copy soon, Hermes. You could always try somewhere like Asda, as a last resort.

Just to be clear to people who haven't got the book yet, you do realise there'll be spoilers in this thread, right? If you walk in and read something you didn't want to, you have nobody but yourselves to blame.
I got my copy at a small independent bookstore. It looked like they had at least three copies, plus one in the window, plus any more in stock or already sold.
Edit: I just realised something that's been bothering me. The Egmont edition is physically smaller than the LB edition. It's not as tall.

That is correct. But after sporting about the LB edition for so long, I feel a little disorientated. It's partly also as the name of the series and the name of the book at the top of each page are a bit too close to the page edge. It looks as if the text was printed too high up on the page.

Also, I just finished it. I'll post a review later....

Looking forward to it, misterm. I'm about halfway through my reread. Lots of new thoughts this time around. I'm very keen to hear what other people think of all the mysteries.
