Charles Snicket, does the Australian cover look like the cover we found - like the Egmont cover but grey instead of green? Apparently so. Lemona posted a picture of her book cover in the feel free to post whatever you like thread.

It actually has that green line down the side? I honestly thought that was a placeholder for a hawser border like the U.K. edition eventually installed.
...Speaking of which, the Egmont cover is very lime. Whenever I look at it I feel like it's glowing in the dark, even in the daytime.

Thank you, Charles; that's most enlightening. It looks as if the digital art online is accurate. The back is very similar to the Egmont edition, they've just shifted the "Art by Seth" box, and - wait, what the heck. Is that a stick figure dog in the lower-left? It's covered up on the Egmont and LB back covers. Edit: Ugh. I just realised that Egmont are using placeholder art on their own site.

Huh? So is that dog actually part of the picture?

The dog doesn't seem to fit in stylistically. Might it be the publisher's emblem? In the Egmont edition its place is taken by a green circle announcing that Egmont is committed to ethical publishing.

That's one possibility, but if true the emblem blends in rather well. While it doesn't fit stylistically, it doesn't have a solid background or accompanying text to distinguish it, either. I'm comparing it to the LB edition, which cuts off the dog entirely (rather than simply obscuring it). I think one might be able to see the tip of the tail if it were part of the original background, but it's too close a call to be entirely sure.

Ah, okay. But it really is a weird placement for the publisher's logo without the accompanying text. As if they've deliberately tried to confuse us with it.

Nice work, Hermes. Charles Snicket, is the dog on the cover filled in white? Or is that just the glare?

I am sorry for confusing everyone, It does infact say "Hardie Grant EGMONT" underneath the dog, it was just cut off in my photo (sorry). Sherry Ann, The dog is just an outline, as in the inside is not filled in. It's just the grey background showing through.

Ah, thank you. Yes, the additional text does give some rather helpful context, as it means the publishers didn't simply assume everyone would know dog=Hardie Grant Egmont.

Yeah, sorry about the cut off photo, I kinda had my hands full and taking it at night was not so easy.

Don't worry about it, Charles Snicket. It's always nice to have another little mystery ongoing, especially if it's one we can solve.

Oh okay =D. Probably a stupid question, but do we know what the house on the hill from the front cover is? I thought it was Ellington's Cottage at first, but then I realised that the cottage was near the tree where Snicket fell, and that one is on a hill (I think). Speculations?
