My library has all of the audiobooks of ASOUE, the only "problem" is that Tim Curry does not narrate books 3,4 and 5. At least he probably did but we just don't have those versions which is a shame as I would have loved to hear those audiobooks as well. Well, this might be a strange request but does anyone have actual audio samples of Tim Curry doing the voices of all the characters from those three books that we never hear from again, like Aunt Josephine, or even some of Olaf's characters like Captain Sham, Shirley and Coach Genghis? I would really like to hear them from Curry's point of view. If anybody has them, or knows of a site that has them would be much appreciated!
For books 3,4 and 5 they are narrated by Handler himself, and even though he does a fine job it's just not the same without Curry, and in some ways seems sort of... lacking. Thanks!

Hmm. I'm not sure if they exist. I agree with you, though about Handler's narration being... ok, but just not up to standard. (Audiobook fanatic here). I really wish I had a full collection of Curry's narrating all thirteen, partly because it would be "complete", and partly because of his sexy British accent. I really don't know if any samply things from those books exist. However, if they do, I would be crazy to hear them.

I'm pretty sure there aren't Curry versions of the third, fourth, and fifth books. For whatever reason, they had Handler do this - maybe he wanted them to do them, maybe the publishers liked the response to his publicity events and wanted him to do them - but he said later that he found it difficult (I forget his exact complaint). I doubt HC would've wanted to bankroll two different versions of one audiobook when the ones they have are perfectly suitable.

Oh dear, looks like you're right. I tried going on Amazon and then Audiobooks.com and it looks like they just have Handler doing them. Well that's too bad. It would have been fun and as Lemona Snicket said before, "complete". Maybe Tim Curry was very busy during those recording of the three and he couldn't do it because of scheduling conflicts. But he was able to do the rest of them. That's kind of what I thought of before. Even so, hopefully he read books 3, 4 and 5 on his own, just so that he knew what was going on. And catch up with the narration! lol.
Well, just for fun, what do any of you think Curry would have sounded like if he had narrated the three, and what voices can you imagine him using for Josephine, Captain Sham, Taxi driver (who drives the kids to Josephine's), Shirley, Georgina Orwell, "Foreman Flacutono", or Coach Genghis?
Yeah, Tim Curry truly brings the series to life with his narrations.

but he said later that he found it difficult (I forget his exact complaint). For the record, it was primarily fatigue. He mentioned there are aspects to recording that differ from live readings which he found unpleasant (having to read the same sentence over and over again, for instance, due to lip-smacking, background noise, or voice corrections). I'm not sure why he would then proceed to narrate two subsequent volumes after such an experience, but that could be due to external factors. The Curry narrations are memorable, though. I still can't read a single line from TGG without hearing his voice.

I still can't read a single line from TGG without hearing his voice. I can't read a single line from the any of the books he narrated without hearing his voice. TGG in particular had some moments that were pure gold, though.
