First I just wanted to say that I have always loved reading the "To My Kind Editor" segments at the end of each book in ASOUE. Of course there was never one for "The Bad Beginning," just for the ones that came after it. (at least, I don't think he wrote one for TBB)... In any case, I decided to make one up, an editor's note that Lemony Snicket might have written to his editor, introducing the editor to the series and telling hir what it is about and why he would want to bring the story of the Baudelaire's to the public. So here it goes:
To My Kind - soon to be - Editor,
This is truly the only way I can communicate with you, as I do not want my enemies to know where I am at. So throughout this series, I will give you each of my transcripts at certain hidden locations, so that they do not fall into the wrong hands. The transcripts are about the three Baudelaire children, or Baudelaire orphans; and their story is VERY important and must be told and brought forth to the general public. It is the only way justice can be served for these three unfortunate children, in A Series of Unfortunate Events.
I am writing to you from the auditorium in the city, where Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire had last appeared, in a play no less; in order to find out exactly what transpired while the misfortunate lives of the Baudelaire's first began.
This Monday, at about 4:30 pm, please go to the old run down and vacant automobile junk shop down-town, and look inside an old oak cabinet in the far left corner of the shop. In the third drawer down, you should find my description of the first miserable chapter in the lives of the three Baudelaire's, entitled THE BAD BEGINNING, as well as the ingredients on how to make puttanesca sauce, a book on nuptial law, and the playbill for the theater production of The Marvelous Marriage. I have also included a large piece of burnt wood, that belonged to a mansion, for Mr. Helquist, my soon to be illustrator, who should find it useful for his illustrations.
Remember, you are my last hope that the tales of the Baudelaire orphans can finally be told to the general public.
With all due respect,
LEMONY SNICKET
Lemony Snicket
So.. what do you all think?
