Wow! Oo! What? Well, that is exciting.
What do you mean, Dante, 'a man talking to himself'? Surely you're not suggesting that DH and LS are in any way the same person?
As to who 'she' is - probably different people at different moments. Of the one Mr M lists, I'd say Ellington and Kit are the most likely. Another possibility is Mrs Sallis/Sally Murphy.

The chemist appears to be refining ink; perhaps she works for the factory?

Although we musn't forget that the title is the WRONG question. So what is the right one?

Okay, the girl in the beret is surely Kit. I mean, in both illustrations from ?1 she has been wearing a beret. So for some reason Kit is in a place which seems very mush like a laboratory. I also agree with Antenora in that it sets the theme of a mad scientist vein of story. Also, it is an interesting thought that the "tadpole" could be a larval GU/ BB. Also as a though, could it not be an actual tadpole for the dissonant toad or one of the many other amphibians Monty has. Or, god forbid, could it actually be an ordinary goldfish. Also, I love the interview between DH and LS. He executed that fantastically.

Sweet, now to wait till October...man, that's gonna be a long wait.
Speculation time. The Her in question could be anybody. And the presence of ink boxes on the cover could mean Stain'd will indeed be the setting again like what was said in Hour.

I'm flipping out, man. The cover is gorgeous, reminds me of German Expressionism movies (which, of course, were crucial to the noir genre). Also seems like I may have been wrong with the colour scheme theory, although the "Lemony Snicket" border is the same shade of green I predicted. Anyway, purple is perfect! And I really love the title as well. Oh and the trailer is one of my favourite things right now.

I agree that the "her" of the title is likely to refer to different characters throughout the narrative. The missing girl is the obvious one, but Ellington and indeed Kit would be good candidates - as might be Flammarion, as the gender of the chemist-like figure on the cover isn't entirely certain. I agree that they might well be working with or in relation to Ink Inc. in some manner - the cover indicates that Ink Inc. enter the plot of the series in this volume, so Flammarion might be a good way to introduce them. But how to introduce Flammarion? If the missing girl is a new character, perhaps it's Flammarion's daughter.
Edit: Oh, and a thought on how the title could be a wrong question. It's just a guess that could be completely off the mark, but maybe the right question would be "When did you see her first?" What would that mean? I'm sure you'll have a few ideas, but it's too early to really say.

Egad that's a great cover. Hopefully the Australian and UK covers will be really good as well. Edit: Silly numerical speculation: ?1 has a seven-word title and a six-panel cover. ?2 has a six-word title and a five-panel cover. Could ?3 have a five-word title and four-panel cover, and ?4 a four-word title and three-panel cover? Probably not, but it's worth thinking about! Building on this, and converging on mad hatter territory - when you put the WCTBATH and WDYSHL cover side by side and compare them, the placement and size of the images is identical, except that the space occupied by the two images on the top left of the WCTBATH corner (the lighthouse and bottles of ink) have been merged together on the WDYSHL cover as the haunted house picture. Perhaps ?3, with four panels, will merge the two panels on the lower left, and ?2 will merge the two panels above, or vice versa. I realise I'm clutching at straws about something that won't matter, but it's fun to speculate. Edit: Just a thought - are they going to be changing the website soon to reflect the new colour scheme?

Oh, brilliant! And right on schedule. While I can't comment much at the moment, I think there are definite grounds for speculation here, and I think the title is an excellent segue from WCTBATH.

Last year's UK and Australian cover had the image of falling Lemony in the bottom right. If they're sticking to this pattern, then perhaps they'll have the image of Hangfire's silhouette from the bottom right of the US cover on the UK/Australian cover.

I think it's possible to predict with reasonable accuracy what the Egmont covers will look like, yes.
I agree that the central picture is likely to be the lower-right image of Lemony on the stairs before Hangfire's silhouette, simply as it's the only one to include Lemony, although they'll either have to hope that there's a wider version of the picture or they'll have to zoom in quite far. The spine is likely to stay octopi but of course will be tinted purple, as the interior endpapers probably will be. The roadster running along the bottom of the front cover will probably remain as is because it fits the dimensions of the cover well due to its two-dimensionality, which the Ink Inc. crates, for instance, don't. As for the spine, I'm inclined to say that the Bombinating Beast motif will stay, although there's a distant possibility it could be replaced by a rotated version of the mysterious eye-creature; likewise, the falling Lemony over the moon at the top of the spine has a good chance of being replaced with that creature as it's the only motif which fits the space. The predominant green colour of the cover will probably stay the same, given that it's essentially the same as the title plate on the LB edition right now, and likewise the grey-black of the Hardie Grant Egmont covers will never be inappropriate. As for the hawser border, I'd guess it will be replaced by one of the taller glass tubes much like those used by the chemist.
