I've been noticing that people generally just don't like the saybox, but I think the itroduction of these popunders has just been the last straw. Plain text advertsiing is okay, because it doesn't popu up randomly in your face. However, these popunders are awful., and the only way to get rid of them is to get rid of the saybox.
So, what does everyone else think?

I agree, I already said this in the saybox - the saybox was causing enough trouble as it was, and like you said, the popunders are the last straw. I say we get rid of it.

The pop-unders have to go. Not only are they annoying in themselves, their presence makes 667 unbelievably tacky, and reduces it to the level of a third-rate site. In my opinion, 667 cannot be respected or acceptable if it has any form of pop-up, under, over, through the back gate and into the hills, advertising; it's cheap, ugly, and above all, irritating and inconvenient. If people wish to keep the SayBox, then either the SayBox must be moved to be exclusively within one board, or it must be replaced with an alternative kind of chatroom function which does not spam us with pop-up adverts on any page where the SayBox lurks.

Exactly! If we want to retain our repuatation as the calm, cool, sophisticated one of the Big Three aSoUE forums, we have to get rid of this. It reduces us to the level of one of those pathetic little angelfire or tripod aSoUE sites.

I've never even used the saybox. If you want to talk to people then either use PMs or some sort of IM thing.

I've never liked the saybox and I agree with all the points already made.

The popunders are just one reason why we should rid 667 of the saybox. All of the impersonation drama, and n00bish behavior in there is enough for me to want to get rid of it. I've probably only had 2 intelligent conversations on there.

Information about the Popunders, linked by the SayBot, some kind of Saybox auto-update thing. It appears we might be able to rid ourselves of them if Tragedy subscribes for a Saybox account or something. Also, is there any way to determine which pages the Saybox shows up on? At the moment, I think it's on the homepage, the View Profile pages, all the Private Message pages, and the members list. It might be best to have the Saybox display in just one board, to restrict the Popunders. If we're going to keep it. However, I agree with Dante, Akbar, and others--these popunders are not only annoying in themselves(and my pop-up blocker is rather inefficient in dealing with them), they make 667 look tacky and unappealing, and will possibly deter members from coming here. It'd be best if we could get rid of them altogether, and getting rid of the Saybox seems the best way to do that. Besides, I've been thinking we should get rid of the Saybox anyway; it's been causing a lot of uproar about spamming, harassment, and impersonation. I think Jacktripper, though banned, might still be using it. And someone once asked me to delete it because of all the rudeness going on in there.

Drop it. I've already said that in the 667er, in the saybox, and I'll say it again; it's terrible. Dante pretty much sums it all up, and it needs to GO.

It was just pointed out that I sort of um... put our saybox usage in jeopardy. I told how to block pop-ups. So if saybox finds out, it's gone. YAY! I mean umm...

The saybox has really only ever created conflict. People can pretend to be other people, causing people to hate the person being impersonated, and then the person being harrased by the impersonator is harrassed, therefore meaning they're not happy and are going to create havoc. I don't like the saybox. It should go. If people want a place where they can randomly talk, make a thread. This entire place is a forum, a saybox is actually quite pointless considering it does the exact same thing as a thread except it's on the homepage and you can say you're anyone.

I think we should get rid of it, but have a board for mindless chatting so that we can't get spammers spamming. All I have to say.
