Stuart is quite an amusing character. I wonder how his boots became trapped beneath the refrigerator like that?

1. Name? Esme Gigi Genevieve Squalor née O'Connor 2. Date of birth and age? April 2, 1974, which means, holy salsa, I'm 39 years old.
3. Any piercings/tattoos/other body modifications? I have my earlobes double pierced and my belly button pierced. No tattoos, though. I freak the potato out with needles. It took me forever to get my belly button piercing because of that reason.
4. Do you have a significant other? Yep. Jerome and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary on August 20th.
5. Do you have children? If not, do you want them in the future? I have 5 kids. Violet, who is 20; Klaus, who is 18; Sunny, who's 6; Sophia, who's 3; and Atticus, who's 13 months old. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny's birth parents were really close friends of ours. So, we took the kids in after Beatrice and Bertrand died. Sophia and Atticus are my only 2 biological children.
6. What were your grades like in primary and secondary school? I've only gotten 3 B's in my K-12 education.
7. Did you do post-secondary education? If so where and what degree do you have? I have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a theatre minor from the University of California-Los Angeles.
8. Where is your hometown? Where else have you lived? Where do live now? I'm originally from Petaluma, California. My boarding school was in Vallejo, California up until I finished 8th grade. And then it moved to near Mt. Shasta. I spent most of my summers from the time I was 13 until I was 18 in Cardiff, Wales and Dublin, Ireland. I have triple citizenship to Ireland, the UK, and the States. I lived in Los Angeles for university. Now, I live in San Francisco.
9. What is the worst physical pain you've felt? My 15 hour long labor with Sophia. I could of gotten an epidural, but the thought of having a needle in my back weirded me out too much. As I mentioned, I hate needles. With Atticus, I was in labor for only 6 hours, and I knew what to expect, so it was less painful. And he was 8 ounces bigger, at 8 pounds 12 ounces.
10. What is your favorite holiday? Being Irish (well, half) AND Roman Catholic, St. Patrick's Day. I haven't gone out drinking for St. Patrick's Day since 2009. I was pregnant in 2010, nursing in 2011, pregnant again in 2012, and nursing this year.
11. What is your least favorite food? Meat. When I was pregnant with Atticus, I got sick even thinking about meat. I'm now a vegetarian, and my sister-in-law was right: Meat is disgusting.
12. Describe the happiest day in your life. It's a tie between the births of Sophia and Atticus and when Violet, Klaus, and Sunny came to live with us.
13. Do you play any instruments? If so, what? I play flute, oboe, viola, guitar, and piano. And I sing.
14. Hair color/eye color? My hair is naturally chestnut brown, but I've had it pretty much every shade between bleach blonde and jet black. My eyes are naturally Tiffany blue, but depending on the lighting, they can either look green or blue.
15. Have you ever had braces? I never needed them.

Oh, I'm happy to see an Esmé interview from you! I don't believe we've met little Atticus yet, but I must say, he sounds adorable. I'll love to see an interview with him, sometime. The name choice is a great one, and keeps with the D.H.'s theme of naming characters after those in literature and history. The idea of Esmé having multi-changing eyes is really cool, and one I wish I'd thought of. ^^ By the way, I really admire your ability to come up with such strong characters, and all the histories that go along with them. Even though Esmé is a canon character, you've managed to flesh her out in a way that, although very different from her book self, comes across as a very believable, relatable and likable character.

Atticus is a great character, and I like the fact that he's bisexual. It's cool the way he takes after Esmé in acting and most musical instruments, too.
I had a strawberry allergy as a kid, but thankfully outgrew it.

Aww, Sophia! How nice to see you again! You're all grown up! ^^ I've never heard of pansexuality, but judging from the description on Wikapedia, it's a very interesting preference. I'll love to meet Dakota one of these days. I like how Sophia has not one but two middle names, like her mom. ^^

You'd better not be talking about my Dakota. He's male through and through. (lol) I have heard of pansexuality before, never fully understood it until your post. So, thanks for, well, explaining it in such a simple way. So does this mean Dakota is a transsexual? Speaking of Dakota...
1. Name? Hi. My name's Dakota. My full name is Dakota Steve Isaac Montgomery. I hate it; it's such a mouthful! My dad doesn't make it any easier calling me Doki!
2. Date of birth and age? My sister and I are 12 years old, and were both born on the 30th of June. We're fraternal twins.
3. Any piercings/tattoos/other body modifications? As cool as they are, no. Mum says I'm too young. I've thought about getting an ear pierced when I'm older.
4. Do you have a significant other? What does that mean?
5. Do you have children? If not, do you want them in the future? Oh, God, no!
6. What were your grades like in primary and secondary school? My grades in primary school were reasonable, I guess. English has always been my best subject, even though I do get my grammar mixed up sometimes. I've only just started secondary school, so I can't really say yet. My teachers say I'm doing well so far, though.
7. Did you do post-secondary education? If so where and what degree do you have? I really want to study English when I'm older. It's like the best thing ever.
8. Where is your hometown? Where else have you lived? Where do live now? I have always lived in Tedia. My dad has lived in our house for nearly 45 years! How cool is that!
9. What is the worst physical pain you've felt? Physical pain? Getting into fist fights with my sister probably. She packs a mean punch!
10. What is your favorite holiday? We don't really go on holiday. We have spent days at Briny Beach with my parents' friends, though, who live in The City.
11. What is your least favorite food? Vegetables. Every kind. Especially carrots.
12. Describe the happiest day in your life. Writing my first proper novel. I was about six then, and that's when I realised I wanted to be a real, published author.
13. Do you play any instruments? If so, what? I've thought about asking Mum about guitar lessons, but *shrug* My pen is my instrument. So to speak.
14. Hair color/eye color? I have brown eyes and blonde hair. I share these features with my sister, and that's basically the only thing we actually do share. Jo: (off-screen): What about my womb!? Dakota: Eww, Mum! That's gross!
15. Have you ever had braces? Nope! My dentist says I don't need them.

Beth: Reading about Michelle's Dakota made me think of your character, too. I assumed they were probably two different people, though. On another note, I always enjoy reading about one or both of the Montgomery twins. Dakota and Monty are very much Max and Goofy from Goof Troop/A Goofy Movie. And Dakota wants to be a writer when he grows up! How cool is that? 'Dokie' is probably the most embarrassing nickname a parent can give their child. XD It's nice to see an interview with Cody. (Dakota without Cody seems so...unfulfilled, IMO.) It's sweet that she wants to take after Monty in his line of work, and her passion for snakes is such a beautiful thing. ^^ It's interesting that her father's eye color and her mother's hair color are traits that would be passed down to her. Michelle: Thank you for providing the link. While I still find some of it confusing, I do understand the definition of 'genderqueer', which I looked up on Wikipedia. I'll do the same for the others you mentioned. It was fun meeting Dakota, who is even cooler than I thought ze'd be. I love zir's piercings (especially the angel bites), turquoise hair and last name. (I used to want to name my daughter Fallon, if I ever decide to have children.) Will you be writing any stories featuring Dakota in the future?

Oh, my! Hugo has certainly had his share of world travel, hasn't he? I really like your take on him, and the way you show that, despite his past health problems, he's still a very funny and positive guy. His and Michelle's costumes from the previous Halloween are fantastic, btw.
