I got my first period a few days before I turned twelve. Worst. Birthday. Present. EVER. >.< Aww, Thea and I share a birthday. I feel a bit bad for her, having parents who don't acknowledge her relationship with her boyfriend, though I do understand their reasons. I'm sure that will change, once she's older. She has the classic Squalor green eyes! Yay! ^^ Did you get her middle name from the character in Desperate Housewives, or is it just coincidence?

@emma I got mine a couple months after I turned 12. And since I was one of the oldest in my class, I was one of the first girls in my class to get her period, even though the average age for it is 12.
Samantha and her half sister:
1. Name? B: Brittany Angela Sweeney. I'm not Irish, but my adoptive father is. S: Samantha Jeanne Pulaski nee Miller.
2. Date of birth and age? S: December 15th, 1985. I'll be 28 this December. B: September 16, 1971, which makes me 42 years old.
3. Any piercings/tattoos/other body modifications? B: I have my ear lobes double pierced and also my rook on my left ear. I have 3 tattoos on my right rib. The first one is "Lara Grace 2-17-07", the second one is "Alexander Leo 4-3-10", and the third one is "Mariya Faith 6-9-13". S: I have my earlobes, my left nostril, and my belly button pierced. No tattoos, though.
4. Do you have a significant other? S: My husband, Micah. We've been married for over 3 years. He's in field training to become a police officer. B: My husband of 12 years, Michael Blanchett. He is a professor, like me, but he teaches English.
5. Do you have children? If not, do you want them in the future? B: I have a 6 year old daughter named Lara, a 3 year old son named Alexander, and a nearly 5 month old daughter named Mariya. Mariya was my surprise baby. My pregnancy with her was a surprise and we kept her sex a surprise until birth. S: Not yet. My husband is busting his butt off in field training as a police officer, and I'm busting my butt off so I can obtain tenure in the future.
6. What were your grades like in primary and secondary school? S: Straight A's. I was in AP and honors, but I still graduated fourth in my class. B: Straight A's. I was also in AP and honors, and I managed to graduate as Valedictorian.
7. Did you do post-secondary education? If so where and what degree do you have? B: I have my Bachelor's in French and Francophone Studies from Swarthmore College. I got my MA and PhD in French Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. S: I have my Bachelor's in Music Theory and Flute performance from Oberlin College. My Master's in Music Theory and my Doctorate's in Flute Performance are from the University of Texas at Austin.
8. Where is your hometown? Where else have you lived? Where do live now? S: I grew up in Richardson, Texas. I moved to Oberlin, Ohio for undergrad. And for grad school, I moved to Austin, Texas. Even though I'm done with grad school, I still live in Austin. B: I was born in Peoria, Illinois. My biological parents were 16 when I was born and they gave me up for adoption. I grew up in Schaumburg, Illinois. I did undergrad in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. Then I took a year off to live in France. I moved to Urbana, Illinois for grad school and stayed there ever since.
9. What is the worst physical pain you've felt? B: My labor with Lara. They gave me Pitocin to speed up my labor, which made Lara's heartbeat drop, so I had to have an emergency c section. Recovery was a magee. With Alexander, I had a successful, unmedicated VBAC. I also had Mariya naturally. S: The first time I had a ruptured ovarian cyst. I was 16 years old, and it felt like a knife stabbing on my left side. Turns out, I have PCOS.
10. What is your favorite holiday? S: Christmas. This year, for winter break, I'll be staying in Fiji with my parents. Brittany, Michael, and my nieces and nephew are visiting us. B: Christmas. I get to spend time with my family.
11. What is your least favorite food? B: Wonton soup. *gag* S: Figs. I cannot eat them due to oral allergy reaction. :/
12. Describe the happiest day in your life. S: Besides getting married and getting my PhD, meeting my half sister. I've always known that I had a half sister in Illinois, and that my dad was 16 when she was born. B: Besides my wedding, when I got my PhD, when I got tenure, and the births of my children, meeting my birth family. Samantha is so cool.
13. Do you play any instruments? If so, what? B: I play cello and piano. My half sister is the really musical one. S: Yes I am, Brittany. I play piano, flute, oboe, clarinet, and saxophone. Flute is my best instrument.
14. Hair color/eye color? S: Light brown with light brown eyes B: Medium brown with blue eyes.
15. Have you ever had braces? B: In high school, I wore braces. S: I'm lucky. I've never needed braces.

I got my first period a few days before I turned twelve. Worst. Birthday. Present. EVER. >.< Oh, no!! I had mine on Boxing Day when I was 12. Now that's the worst Christmas present ever! When I was on my childcare course, and was doing work experience in a primary school, there was a 10 year old girl who got her period during lessons. I didn't work with her class, so I don't know the exact details, but she was quite freaked out from what I heard from the other teachers. I felt rather sorry for her. Poor girl

Michelle: I was a year older than most people in my grade, so that made getting my period twice as unwanted. One of my friends at the time I am pretty sure went through puberty when she was nine or ten. She was a little more than a month younger than me, but looked like a high school student when we were in fourth grade.
How do Samantha and Brittany connect to your ficverse?
It's interesting that they're both straight A students. However, I like how their differences balance them out, such as Samantha being the one who doesn't have a family of her own yet. I'll love to read the story of how they first met, if you ever choose to do one.
Cool, so is my brother! He's graduating next month.
Beth: I'm sorry you got your period the day after Christmas. I never understand why some girls who get theirs later than most complain.
I feel bad for the little girl at the school you volunteered at. I don't imagine mothers typically talk to their daughters who are that young about "girl stuff", because it doesn't occur to them. I think my friend I mentioned must have been about ten or younger when she got hers. In fifth grade we watched a video about it, and I don't think she was present for it, so I assumed she already knew all about it. Like most of the other girls, I joined in with their "Ewwww!" chant. God, I was immature. XD

It took me a few minutes to figure out who Gerald was. I think it was the "two dads" part that jogged my memory. ^^ Well, this cute little guy has grown up to be quite the ladies' man, hasn't he? I mean, eight kids! Wow! Is his twelve-year-old a boy or a girl? Have you come up with names for any of his children yet? When I read this, I pictured Sir smelling up the food with his smoke, or worse, accidentally dropping cigar ashes into it. Hmm...I wonder if he and Jerome's father smoke the same brand of cigar?
