Nobody knows for sure where the book takes place, although I like to imagine it was set in a post-apocalyptic dystopia that once used to be London. I like to imagine that it’s a post-apocalyptic dystopia that used to be San Francisco.

Well the world of ASOUE is supposed to be Anachronistic, I think it's safe to say that certain events in history took place in different periods of time.

As a Chicagoan it is my duty to point out that Mrs. O'Leary's cow did not start the fire, the fire started BEHIND the barn, and her farm was one of the only buildings that survived. Strong anti-Irish sentiment at the time caused her to be blamed. The newspaperman who wrote the story later admitted to inventing it. The spot where her house was in now a Chicago Fire Department building.
Anyway ASoUE doesn't take place anywhere in the real world.
