so "a series of unfortunate events" is a really long name. everyone calls it ASOUE. but that is a bit weird. and what if you want to say it? spelling it is too long, and saying a-soo-eeh sounds ridicolus. so how about calling it "a series" or "the series"? what do you think?

A-soo-eh sounds fine to me. 'A series' might mean ATWQ - or, in the wider world, Harry Potter or many other things.

I've gotten far too used to Ey-Ess-Oh-Yew-Ee. Or, as I also call it, Asowee.
Although I've been trying to push for people to refer to the wider Snicket universe, in which both ASoUE and ATWQ are set, as "the Averse," because both series begin with the initial A. It's also a pun. Tell your friends! Don't be averse to the Aver[etc., etc.].

Could you give me some pointers on the IPA, I'm not sure I fully understand it?

Hmmm I actually like the idea of saying UE. I've never thought of that before.

I abbreviate it to ASOUE online but I don't think I had ever considered how I would say it out loud before... weird... When I was doing academic stuff with it, I referred to it as 'The Series' (like Sherlock's 'The Woman')
