This is truly amazing. Thank you, Pevalwen, for initiating this! It's such a thrill seeing new artwork for this series... and it's exciting to know that there's more to come! Yes, it's a good show from Helquist not to post them all at once- something to look forward to Arguably, the main attraction of the new paperbacks was the new illustrations, so it almost feels like we're getting The Miserable Mill, Or Hypnotism!, only in some kind of limited online format I never expected to see anything else from these editions before finding that book cover, so this is truly a treat.

Fantastic to see progress made! I can't wait to see more, after all these years; Helquist's art had come on so far that it's a real delight to get a more immersive picture of some of these well-worn scenes. Indeed, fingers crossed for Dr. Orwell. Actually, new art came in every odd-numbered chapter, so let me see... Chapter Nine is our best bet, in that it's the only odd-numbered chapter that Orwell appears in. As to the corresponding quote, this is probably Chapter Three, "The children sat up and rubbed their eyes," p. 31.
I'm editing the subject line, by the way, Pevalwen; I hope you don't mind.
Edit: Could you link the new material in your first post, Pevalwen? I leave the format up to you in this instance.

Arguably, the main attraction of the new paperbacks was the new illustrations, so it almost feels like we're getting The Miserable Mill, Or Hypnotism!, only in some kind of limited online format Of course, we've also got The Spoily Brats. Apart from that, there would probably have been a short story 'by a dead writer' - the one in the first three volumes was finished - but that would not have been new; and some silly advertisements, but I guess we can happily live without them.

And, after all, if anyone wants more of Michael Kupperman's Monty Python-esque ads and similar things to The Spoily Brats, there's his collection of humorous cartoons, Tales Designed To Thrizzle (vol.1&more). They're pretty hilarious and I've been thinking about buying the first volume. (DH is a fan himself, since he hired him after seeing MK's comic strip 'Snake'n'Bacon.')

Kupperman's ads were only in the first paperback, as indeed was the bonus, what was it called, The Paper Magician guide; The Cornucopian Cavalcade was decidedly less cornucopian in TRR and TWW, holding only Q: A Psychic Pstory of the Psupernatural and The Spoily Brats. Oh, and the advice column "What Shall I Do, Lemony Snicket?" I like to think that all of the bonus content was going to get more and more bonkers over time, just like TSB. But yes, aside from TSB, the new illustrations were pretty much the main event.

That really is a great turn up for the books!
Hopefully we get Orwell, Charles and Phil. Maybe a better picture of Flacutono.

Thank you for posting this! I was wondering when we would see more. Klaus in his shirt sleeves, gosh; I never thought I'd see the day.

I know it's often the case with people, but I almost feel as if Klaus looks especially different without his glasses. Almost like I can see his 'human' side, beyond the default smart kid with big round glasses. I think I would have found this interesting when I was younger (I always appreciated the illustrations of him as Elliot). There's some nice detail in Flacutono's shirt there and his hair looks especially crazy. I also like the composition with Violet/Sunny in the centre, with a giant saw framing them. Exciting stuff! Thanks for posting

I just hope we get a Dr. Orwell and a Charles.
(I am assuming the man in the top bunk in the first picture is Phil)
