It's recently struck me that I've been a fan of Lemony Snicket for thirteen years. I somehow think that number is significant. I wonder why? ... Mmm, in any case, I think it's a perfect reason to give the books a good reread.* And perhaps after that, I might finally read ATWQ, which has been left, untouched, on my shelf for...some years. I know, I'm a bad fan. :/ *I'm on Chapter 8 of TRR, currently. Not long until Mr. Poe's hilarious outburst!

Come to think of it, the thirteen-year anniversary of TBB's publication was a couple of years ago now. This year would be the thirteenth anniversary of... the U.A. and TCC? Not a bad year to start, LSWannaBe.

Ha! if you had told us this a little earlier you might have been nominated for Most Thirteen-year-old!
I am younger in fandom than you: I started about the time TGG came out.

Haha, I think you're right, Hermes. Aww well.
You know, since I realised how long I've been a fan of ASOUE, I've really become...nostalgic for the old days. I remember listening to the cassette tape for the first time and thinking, "What the hufflepuff am I listening to?! O.O". And I remember giggling childishly over Sir and Charles. (I hadn't quite realised yet that a man can be in a romantic relationship with another man, and since Sir/Charles was heavily implied, I found the idea absolutely hysterical. Give me a break, I was only 10!) I really didn't think I would enjoy these books as much as I do. And I certainly didn't expect the impact Mr. Snicket and Mr. Handler would have on my own writing. More so than Roald Dahl or Oscar Wilde or Hans Christian Andersen.
Haha, God! Thirteen years indeed...

So did you spot Sir/Charles in TMM? I think most of us didn't really recognise it until TPP and TBL.

Come to think of it, the thirteen-year anniversary of TBB's publication was a couple of years ago now. It was, in fact, the year of WCTBATH's publication.
And happy anniversary, Beth!

I think by the time WCTBATH came out, it was the 13th anniversary of TRR instead.

Well, I'm pretty young, joining the LS fandom by the time ATWQ was announced.

How could anyone NOT see it? Well, even after TPP there were posts saying 'Oh gosh, do you think that Sir and Charles could be gay?', so if you spotted it in TMM, when you didn't even know two men could be in a relationship, that sounds pretty insightful to me.

I think I started in the year The End came out so...2006? I was only around 8 at the time.

I started shortly after the release of The Slippery Slope (it was advertised as new in bookstores), which was 2004 when I was about 12. I remember, judging by the covers and the tone, that the books would be much more horror influenced, maybe even with supernatural elements... I was delighted to discover something different but still far out.

I started in 2004 as well, although I was only 6. I know this because my copy of TBB has promotional stuff for the movie all over it. Can't remember how it was discovered... my dad probably just bought it for me on a whim, which is how I got most of my reading material at that age.
