A very diverse cast it seems. Well, it may not be Helquist canon; but I am excited all the same. Have they given an estimate of when the first episode will be released? I read that that the first batch consists of 8 episodes; so we know at the moment that Book 1 & 2 are covered.

No indications of the release period as yet; strictly speaking, no official indication of the number and duration of episodes, either, though the eight-episode and one-hour sources are credible.

Despite not liking the movie...I actually thought the movie's cast were perfect...I didn't imagine Mr. Poe to look like this but I am keeping an open mind.

One thing worth considering is that your memory of the movie cast is likely to be of them in full costume; we're not really getting a fair comparison yet. (I'm hoping we'll get some publicity photographs soon after filming starts, but we may have a long time to wait...) Timothy Spall was a visually perfect Mr. Poe, though, pretty much completely accurate to what few illustrations of Mr. Poe we had.

tbh i think these casting decisions are less about diversity and more about robbing asoue of its fat characters. i bet no one will be portly in the netflix show. classic weightism

First it's Mr. Poe, then it'll be the androgynous assistant and Sir - who will be next for Netflix's ruthless fat-trimming adaptation?

Wtf Freeman's not a woman. Also, what Netflix criticism are you referring to? Oh I was actually just bringing up that million year old fantheory about Poe being a woman I was rereading this thread out of boredom and WHAT Seriously, what the hell? I have heard some idiotic fan theories in my time, but... Mr. Poe being a woman? e's literally called MISTER Poe. And his first name is Arthur. That theory may be dumber than the one about Jar Jar Binks being a Sith lord. What was the person who came up with that theory smoking at the time? link if you have one pls, charlie Also I'm still disappointed they didn't go with Richard Jenkins or Steve Buscemi for Mr. Poe.

It was barely a theory, and more a wild misinterpretation of an early-released chapter illustration from TPP.
