We all know the famous Lucky Smells Lumbermill picture that features throughout the series. We all analyzed the heck out of it when it was included in the trailer. But apparently there is another version of it that Netflix (accidentally?) included in the show? Someone on Reddit noticed something odd: they said that when they watched the show on one device (on Chromecast), the Lucky Smells Lumbermill picture in one scene (at the end of TMM Part 2, when Klaus is looking at it in the office) was a different version than the original. (And the person even compared it to the version they have on another device - the one we all know of.) Here's a link to their comment: www.reddit.com/r/ASOUE/comments/5npha0/season_1_episode_8_discussion/dcveb28/Here are the pictures side-by-side... (Original link: imgur.com/gallery/xVirn) The bottom features more people than the first. Eight are the same (Dr. Orwell, Monty, Quagmire parents, Baudelaire parents, Ike, Josephine, Larry, and Lemony). If the couple in the new picture is supposed to be the Baudelaires, then they look like two completely different actors. There are also five more faces: Gustav is clear and I can assume that's Jacquelyn in front of him. As for the other three (two on far left, one on far right)... do you think they are supposed to be actual characters? Familiar characters, or faceless members? Or was this just an early version of the picture and it's not supposed to mean more than it being a rough edit?

The bottom pic looks like a rough draft. The actors pictures look like placeholders. Barry is dead center, Alfre is over his shoulder, but it looks like a pic they pulled from another source and not posed for the show.
The lumber mill also has a different design, and the water tower has changed places.

And why it only appears on the Chromecast version?! Since the new version has 15 people, though... do you think they were planning to include more characters in the photograph?

It's conceivable that there were just more people in the original source images for this draft version; alternatively, part of the reason for slimming it down might have been because they did need the visible characters to be more identifiable rather than being lost in a crowd.
I don't know much about Chromecast, but I'd guess that maybe when Netflix were preparing versions of the episode for different player formats, one without the final touches slipped through the net. I wonder if there are any other unfinished shots in that version of the episode that are less obviously pre-final.

Yeah now I want to go and watch them all side-by-side like a CRAZY PERSON. But it does seem like something they'd do, put different things in different versions.
