Trailer Breakdown: Count Olaf stands in what looks like a saloon in VFD, addressing the Audience. The dusty room is covered in crow feathers and contains a large Red Herring Statue tucked away in the corner. Violet and Klaus run away from one of the buildings in Prufrock Prep, it is unclear whether they are running away from/towards danger or merely as part of S.O.R.E.. At the head of an angry mob of V.F.D. townspeople, a man screams "Burn them right now !" Presumably in reference to the Baudelaires. The next shot shows a crowd of V.F.D. townspeople shouting in agreement, although this clearly takes place at a different time and location. Standing in front what looks like the exterior of the saloon from the opening. Count Olaf and Esme in their Dupin and Luciana disguises stand at the back of the mob, directing it. Olaf's henchpeople can be seen at the very front of the crowd, as can Mr. and Mrs. Poe, looking befuddled as usual. The crowd is jeering at two figures in flight suits and goggles. While neither of their faces can be seen one of them looks like a recently released photo of Jacquelyn. Violet and Klaus stand on the bed of an old fire truck, looking in fear at the advancing V.F.D. mob. The Quagmires are both climbing the truck's ladder up to the S.S.H.A.M.H.. This is followed by a shot of the angry crowd. Then a profile shot of the crowd getting closer to the truck. The only figures not carrying pitchforks are Mr. and Mrs. Poe who can be seen at the front of the mob. (Presumably much earlier in the Vile Village) The Baudelaires and Hector can be seen standing by what looks like Fowl Fountain, looking up at- A gigantic murder of crows flying over Hector's House and Barn to nest in the Nevermore tree. (This shot can also be assumed to take place at a different point in the story.) The Baudelaires, still in their Prufrock uniforms stand in the foyer of 667 Dark Avenue's penthouse. Klaus presses a button on a remote control. This remotely activates the curtains, opening them, revealing that Gunther (a.k.a. Olaf) is in the room with the Baudelaires. The camera begins to pan in on Violet's shocked face. "Does this seem like a Nightmare ?" Olaf asks the Baudelaires. This then cuts to an overhead shot of Violet, Klaus and Sunny falling down the elevator shaft. It then cuts to a reverse shot, this time from the bottom of the shaft. "Because that's the effect I was going for." Finishes Olaf.

Very interesting! I was a little surprised at first by the increased prominence of the Poes in TVV, but, thinking about it: It wouldn't really make much difference to the overall plot at all to have them there, would it?

I am just as enthralled and enraptured by the visuals of this trailer as everybody else, make no mistake, but can I just take a second to point out that I think we may also have just heard our first earful of Jim Dooley's score? I obviously have no concrete proof, but it sounds a lot like his work and I personally think it is already a marked improvement over (almost) anything we heard throughout season 1.

I’m pretty sure the shot of Violet and Klaus running takes place when they try to rescue the Quagmires. The whole shot is so dramatic, as well as the expression on their faces.

Confirmed that Madam Lulu is Olivia Caliban! (Not that we ever really doubted it, but there could have been two Olivias.)
Also, a map of the City! It doesn't look very like San Francisco, does it?

ARGH! I am so excited about this, it looks great! I can't believe I'm only seeing all this now - that's what I get for spending New Year's with friends instead of refreshing the Netflix instagram all night (I may have to reconsider my priorities). I'm wondering if the two people in flight gear may be replacing Jacques as the unfortunate victims of V.F.D. jurisdiction - although I don't think that's the case; judging from the first season, that doesn't seem like the kind of deviation from the books they'd have (and also, even the people of V.F.D. would presumably hesitate to burn two people simultaneously on the charge of being Count Olaf. Jim Dooley (I agree that this must be him, it's so PD-ish) is doing wonders for the soundtrack so far. This is all so great; I'm feeling much the way I did when that first, unoffical trailer surfaced - exhileration that most of these visuals are extremely close to how I imagined these things. Even after a year of having the general public be aware of this series by way of Netflix, it still feels a little surreal to me to see confirmation that there are people, other than those I've sought out myself via the internet, that are aware of Lemony Snicket. Has anyone yet mentioned this facebook post as of a few hours ago? There's a code for a new URL in there - not only that, it's a code we all know and love from the books (also, I still completely adore the particular line of song that they've included). The address doesn't take me anywhere, though, so I'd be interested in a link if it works for someone else.

I wondered about this for a moment (and it's curious that Jacques Snicket doesn't appear to have a monobrow), but given that Detective Dupin is already on the scene then there's every likelihood that this is after the murder allegedly committed by the Baudelaires. That would also explain why the Poes, and Eleanora Poe in particular, are present. (Also, I think I once read a fanfic set after The End in which it was revealed that Count Olaf had a twin brother and they'd been teaming up against the Baudelaires all along, so...)

Does anyone else think the man and woman in the flight suits look like the Quagmire Parents?

Guyyysss, Mr. Poe and his wife are at the Village of Fowl Devotees. They’re heading the crowd! I love this improvement and it makes a lot of sense given the events in VV. If Mr. Poe himself is there, with Eleanora, The Daily Punctilio has more reasons to blame the Baudelaires.

Photo of the Baudelaires in their pinstripe suits in better quality/colour. A higher resolution photo of Larry working in what appears to be the Prufrock Cafeteria. A better look at the ambulance bay of Heimlich Hospital.

Am I the only one getting American Gothic vibes from the angry crowd?
