I recently figured out how to change the name of the Shoutbox and thought it would be fun to rename it to something more in theme with 667 / ASOUE. We formerly had "the Penthouse" as our chat-space, but that doesn't seem quite right now that the box is at the bottom of the page.
If you have suggestions, please share them here. If there are more than two by the weekend I will create a poll (which, yes, will include the option to keep it as "Shoutbox").
~~~
Please make any final nominations or seconds by Friday, March 5 @ noon EST.
Options that will appear on the poll so far (nominated and seconded):
- Shocking Shoutbox - Chaotic Chat - The Abyss - The Awful Abyss - The Least Quiet Place - cul-de-sac - Cheerless Chat - Petty Parlance
Options that have been nominated, but not yet seconded:
- Sordid Shoutbox - Catastrophic Chatroom - Basement Chat - A Series of Unsafe Expressions - This Abyss - The Last Quiet Place - Babbling Banter
Hmm... what if we just added a ASOUE-esque adjective onto the front? It could become the "Sordid Shoutbox" or the "Catastrophic Chatroom".
I'm broadly in agreement with the idea of an adjective; Shocking Shoutbox, Chaotic Chat, etc. You could always call it the "Basement Chat" or something along those lines, in a reflection of the penthouse, though.
You could always call it the "Basement Chat" or something along those lines, in a reflection of the penthouse, though. I was thinking something like "The Shaft" or maybe "The Abyss," the former as a nod to the eponymous elevator in TEE and the latter as a reference to the expression "shouting into the abyss." Isn't there also a passage about an abyss in TEE, or am I just thinking of the Tragic Treasury song? I like the adjective ideas, too!
I like the idea of The Abyss (or This Abyss from the Gothic Archies song?) or Shocking Shoutbox if the 'Shoutbox' part has to stay.
Don't call it 'The shaft' dear lord How about something like 'Awful Abyss' which is a TEE reference but also has the alliterative style of the books Man I need to reread asoue sometime
Don't call it 'The shaft' dear lord ... After further research, this suggestion has been officially removed from the running. I like this option, but where is “awful abyss” in TEE?
It's obviously not explicitly in TEE but it's kind of a secondary reference to the empty elevator shaft and then there's the alliteration
Not to mention the tragic treasury song
I think [REDACTED] is a good name tho.
Alternatives: "[REDACTED]", "[REDACTED]", "[REDACTED]"
How about "The Last Quiet Place"?
How about "The Last Quiet Place"? An ironic name for a shoutbox. "The Least Quiet Place", maybe.
