as you fall asleep? This came from a discussion with Kit's tits kick ticks. Every single night I think about writing and/or stories in order to get my brain to go to sleep, and I was wondering if anyone else does the same thing, or what they do instead.

When I really need sleep and I'm not sleepy, I put a lecture on my cell phone. For some reason, whenever I'm making a mental effort to focus on a talk on something I think is important, I feel sleepy.

Oh boy, this is a big trigger for my insomnia/anxiety related sleeplessness which has current been worsening.
In order to sleep i kind of need to be thinking about nothing. I used to be good at this, but I also have one of those brains that frankly never shuts up, so my problem is I just lie awake thinking of work and all the other stressful things I've got to do and then I don't sleep. I also wake up multiple times a night and often too early, probably due to rumination like this. Idk how to fix it, trying an online CBT program rn as a method of self help.

I fall asleep to YouTube, mostly Nostalgia Critic. So I think about him.

I actually sometimes deliberately think about work when falling asleep, because work is one of the least stressful parts of my life. I have even come up with solutions for work things in my sleep.

work is one of the least stressful parts of my life. Same here. Work is when I get the most face-to-face interaction.

All sorts of things really but generally it’s fake scenarios that may or may not happen, and playing back memories I’ve been ruminating on. I also think about books a lot, whether they’re ones I’m currently reading or just ones I know very well.
What I really try hard to do though is only think about things that make me happy. Obviously that’s not always possible but in general I’m good at this, so I go to sleep fairly content. I do often wake up multiple times a night though, but generally it just makes me happy when I realise I have more time to sleep.
