yes, i have been working on this. i wanted to publish this all in one go initially, but i'm tough on myself and i don't think i would ever stop revising if i didn't light a fire under my own ass and get to publishing that which is already finished. i have the whole story plotted out beat for beat, which'll be enormously helpful. and yes — i do intend to finish the damn thing up this time. without further ado: scene one of the ropy rewrite (the rewrite)thank you so much for reading <3

From my point of view it's turning out great. I'm very excited to follow this. I love the 2004 movie, and in many ways I think it's better than the Netflix series. It's very good in the adaptation aspect of the books, I think. It would just fix some pesky things. I'm glad that Klaus' reading glasses are there, and I'm looking forward to the ending.

reviving this thread to say the project isn't dead! i realized shortly after publishing scene one that the way i was publishing this script (on Google Docs) was really untenable, especially if people wanted to take a break while reading and closed the tab. (poor things would've had to remember their place and scroll all the way down!) so i'm republishing chapter one, and putting all future chapters, on archive of our own (ao3). as ao3 is invite only i had to wait to reupload the first scene... and here we are. if you're reading this more than two minutes after i posted it the link at the very top of this thread should already direct you to the ao3 page for scene one updates should be far more regular now that the publishing of it is sensible. thanks for your support! <3

new chapter's up! go and read scene two while it's nice and fresh and warm. ("warm" is probably a poor word choice, given the way in which the baudelaire estate is destroyed. excuse me while i stifle a laugh. this is all very sad.)

I didn't understand something. Is Lemony's face shown or not? Or is that up to the director's decision?

I didn't understand something. Is Lemony's face shown or not? Or is that up to the director's decision? i personally intended for Lemony’s face *not* to be shown to the audience, but i only specified that once, in the opening scene to be honest if i was actually filming this it’d probably a case similar to seth’s atwq illustrations where we can see lemony’s mouth but his hat casts a shadow over the top half of his face. i wanted to combine the fun lemony setpieces from the netflix show with the mystique of jude law’s lemony snicket and i’m happy with what i have so far

Thanks! This information is very important for me to try to imagine the scene. the panopticountolaf , I misunderstood something else, does Mr. for adjusting his watch have any meaning? it’s not so much the fact that he does it as the time which he chooses to do it with. the baudelaires have just seen the remains of their family home and begin to cry (a choice i wasn’t sure i was going to make) and mr. poe decides to set his watch. note that he turns the radio *up* after they start crying.
