Are they chewey ones or hard ones? I prefer chewey ones but I think hard ones are the default so that's probably what I end up getting for this purpose.

They're hard but then they crumble so you can bite them quite quickly; they're not that really hard sort that shatter.

Here is some chocolate pudding When I first moved to the UK I used to import packets of chocolate (and vanilla) pudding mix. Until I realised that they had exactly two ingredients, corn starch and cocoa powder. So now I make my own pudding occasionally, using those ingredients, a bit of sugar and normally oat milk, and I come up with different flavours too. 9/13, it was nice and creamy and was but I put nowhere near enough cocoa powder in.

I am struggling with the lime stew. I want to make it but I don't feel like any of the recipes are quite right. To me, "stew" implies it is somewhat chunky, which sets it apart from the cucumber soup and most cold soups in general, which are pureed.

To me, "stew" implies it is somewhat chunky, which sets it apart from the cucumber soup and most cold soups in general, which are pureed. I will probably not be doing the lime stew for a little while as I couldn’t get any limes when I went shopping earlier in the week, and I'll be going away for a fortnight next Saturday. So I'll do some more research and try to find/concoct a better recipe. I have ideas on how to make a really nice lime stew but they all involve cooking, so I'm struggling a bit. In the meantime, however, I did have orange juice and untoasted bread for breakfast today. I had butter and marmite on the bread. Rating: 10/13! I really enjoyed this. The bread was homemade and delicious.

I had porridge for breakfast today. The raspberries are mostly hidden inside. I used frozen raspberries instead of fresh ones because it's February, so the fresh ones you can get are of questionable quality. I mostly have porridge in the office now using the microwave (and the free oat milk provided by work haha), so I haven't had any cooked on the stove for a while. I like both. 11/13 So I'm done with the Bad Beginning recipes. I might do a summary at some point but not right now. I will be away for a bit and the plan is to continue with the coconut cake on the weekend of the 9th/10th of March, but there is a chance of a raw carrot appearing before that.

Your porridge does look better than mine.
I just had puttanesca sauce AGAIN for lunch because I am obsessed. Hopefully I will get the coconut cake, cheer-up cheeseburgers, and cucumber soup done this week before I leave for a couple of weeks on Saturday.

when i was little i taped a piece of paper with the words "Anxious Clown" by the kitchen doorway, and i served my mother cheer-up cheeseburgers. by which i mean she heated up some puke-green veggie patties and i drew a smiley face on with mustard.
(my mother didn't eat meat, cheese, bread, or ketchup.....)

Cheer-up Cheeseburger Ok, I'm really proud of this one. For this, I used: A homemade (by me) bread roll, which I was really really pleased with, it turned out soft and delicious. A 'Beyond Burger', which is a vegan burger made primarily from pea protein -- it's delicious, very flavourful, with a good texture. Port salut cheese -- this is a really nice vegetarian cheese which melts well. A sliced gherkin/pickle. Raw sliced cherry tomatoes. A bunch of raw chopped coriander. Some red onion -- half of which was cooked, half left raw. A thin spread of vegan mayonnaise on the lower half of the bun. A small dollop of tomato ketchup for the nose. A bit of French mustard for the smile. And finally, I chopped up some potatoes and made oven chips. Rating: 11/13. I really enjoyed this, and would definitely have it again. This is obviously a rather nicer/healthier version of the horribly greasy meal the Baudelaires had, but I'm happy to have made it tasty rather than going for a more authentic and unpleasant version. It was all very very filling though, and I am now stuffed.

Oooh that looks nice! The roll looks so fluffy, I want one of those. I have been considering making my own burger patty when I get to that point but I never thought about making the roll. Also those chips look so nice and crispy.

Also those chips look so nice and crispy. It was super fluffy! It actually rose so much I had to cut a slice out of the middle which I'm saving for my breakfast tomorrow, there's no way I could have eaten the whole thing in one go! Making your own burger patty is a good idea, you could mix in any seasoning you want as you do it. This was definitely one of the most fun meals to recreate, I'm excited to see your version when you get to it!

Cucumber soup I made this for lunch today! It was absolutely delicious. I used my mum's recipe, which uses the following ingredients: Grated cucumber Cream Yoghurt Crushed garlic White wine vinegar Chopped mint Ground black pepper It's incredibly simple, you just mix everything together, no cooking needed. Rating: 13/13, I love cucumber soup.

I had a very Snicket food filled weekend. Here is my small bowl of porridge with lots of raspberries. I added vanilla extract and used both water and milk. I cooked it for a while, which gave it a great texture. Also made some Chilled Cucumber Soup with very fresh dill on top. Refreshing and delicious. Here's a picture of the worst Cheer-Up Cheeseburger that you will ever see. It was also very dry. Lastly, I got some mints. I wanted butter mints, but ended up with these high-quality Dutch mints. They are pretty great, actually.
