If you give it to moderators only then makes it mean something and this really shouldn't be taken that seriously. Good point. It would become more important if moderators were to judge who got the positive karma and who go the negative, when really it shouldn't be taken so seriously.

I don't like this idea of karma as I don't think it will be a very fair judging system. I can see it now, people will be making alliances with each other to karma each other up every hour. Instead of giving positive karma to people they think worthy of it they'll be swapping karma for no worthy posts. And perhaps this could lead to fights. Then people will go judging people by the amount of karma they get, in other words their true opinion of someone might be obscured by their karma points. Then you'll have those angry people who just find amusement out of smitting people every hour. Then you might get in an argument with someone and find yourself in a smitting war where you both end up with -17 karma. In conclusion I seriously don't think this is a good idea, karma will be taken advantage of. Maybe if we only give the smite/exalt options to the moderators or a responsible group of karma police. It might work out, but I still don't like the idea. I SOOOOOOOOO TOTALLY AGREE WITH EVERY WORD OF THAT POST! I personally don't like this *karma* thing either.

Another question: does one's karma start out at zero or one? 'Cause I can't imagine anyone having exalted me...

Rats, I just found out that I can only give a karma to one person per hour. I gave one to Gigi.
Poo, I only have one. Oh well, it'll grow.

I used to see this feature briefly on other forums, but I didn't know what it meant until now.
And I think I accidentally gave a point to someone without meaning to because of my overwhelming curiosity to visit links.

On my other forum you can change your mind. If you smite someone you can then applaud(exalt) them and the smite will be taken away and an applaud will be added. This feature is VERY good because you might accidentally smite someone instead of Exault them and on 667 you can't change it. Sorry lindarahldeen I accidentally smited you but I'll exault you twice later to make up for it.

What, you smote me? Oh well, at least I know now that it was an accident, and thanks for the intended exaltation.

Ooh, I suddenly like this karma feature. Somebody gave me a point. I have exalted a few people, although I cannot remember who...I think that Betsy was one. Oh, and Skeleton Key was the other.
Edit: Someone gave me another karma point, my goodness. *glomps*
