What is your idea of beauty? What do you think of society's view of beauty and the people who apparently have this quality in abundance? (It should go without saying that I don't want anyone bashing anyone else's ideas. Civil debate is fine, though.) Personally, I think that too-tight jeans and a visible belly button does not equal beauty. Neither do battleship breasts. My idea of it is someone sophisticated and elegant, preferably androgynous or with feminine features. If you're talking about people who actually look like their own gender, then Crispin Glover is quite a handsome man. If creepy. But that's part of his charm.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...I fully agree with you, though.

Yes, well said, Madamluna. I hate this HOTT stuff. Beauty is on the INSIDE not on the outside. Who you are as a person makes you beautiful.

Ohh that's such crap. Sorry but in the world we all live in, beauty is as much on the outside as inside, if not more. Personally I think if you love someone they're beautiful no matter what, but that's love, not beauty.
Right now I think I'm pretty, and I'm ok with that. That's as far as my beauty views go.

It may be crap, but that's my point of view. The inside matters A LOT more than outside. Beauty is only skin deep. But, I agree with you. In the society will live in now, we are pressured into changing our outer appearence. But people who change themselves to look different might get compliments, making them feel better than everyone else, thus cruelty breaks in. I personally think that plastic surgery is TOTALLY RIDICULOUS. If you can't feel content with the way you look, that is horrible. I am just fine with my outer appearence, very fine indeed with it. But you must draw the line. I don't give into those magazines saying you must be more muscular, skinny, long-haired,short-haired, etc. It's all a bunch of freakin' crap that deserves to stay on the shelves of the book store you found it in.

They all have the smae clothes and everything. we have a uniform and peeps wear different brands then we are supposed to (lands end) one time i heard this girl saying to another girl, "I like ur abercrombie polo!" I don't get how people can tell what brand it is and why does it matter? who are they trying to impress?? and i dont get how beig preppy can make u beautiful. i guess its just rich blonde girls at my school (no offense to blondies) but all of the "pretty and popular girls" are blonde, preppy and rich. they have no personalities, they are just pretty and rich and fashionable and u dont need boobs to be pretty b/c i think i am (not trying to sho off or be snobby) and i have NO boobs but I'm 13.

People who want boobs are unsecure people that are not content with their appearence. They feel that guys look at your boobs, well, take it from a guy. We don't. Well, I don't at least. I'm sure there a lot of stupid guys who are attracted by a girl's breasts, but that's a LOAD OF FREAKIN' CRAP!

ok...a few comments here... People who want boobs are unsecure people that are not content with their appearence. They feel that guys look at your boobs, well, take it from a guy. We don't. Well, I don't at least. I'm sure there a lot of stupid guys who are attracted by a girl's breasts, but that's a LOAD OF FREAKIN' CRAP! i want boobs...just not on me...preferably on someone else who is quite close to me... i didn't feel the desire to look at boobs when i was ten either... i do now...some are nice to look at, others not so much, but that's not what i'm gonna base a relationship on... boobs are a minor part of a girls beauty as a whole... humm...anyway... timartwonis, i thought you looked kinda cute in that picure you posted elsewhere(the blue eyes thread i think...) mister pika, plastic surgery isn't total crap... burn victims, etc, don't feel content with the way they look, ie, if their face has been mutilated by a fire, plastic surgery is useful to help those people... but doing it for purely cosmetic reasons...like numerous stars, and other people...can be classed as kinda crap...i guess... i think that's it...

I dunno. I think lots of things are beautiful in women. I'm not going to pretend I don't go with the whole "too-tight jeans and a visible belly button with battleship breasts" thing, as you said, but I'm also partial to the delicate, pleasant feminine, well dressed, proper... thing. You know what I'm talking about? I like that too.
And let's face it. The whole beauty is on the inside thing isn't working out too well in our society these days.

Here's how I play stock with beauty.
If she's pretty but doesn't have a great personality, I stick to daydreaming. If her personality is great but she isn't pretty, then I try to become really good friends with her. If both qualities are there, then I might try to get into a bigger relationship.

I'm always complaining about my body and looks. My mom constantly tries to convince me that I'm perfect, and how people would "pay millions" to have a body like mine. Pah, I think she's lying. But I don't think anyone's ever truly happy with their own physical appearance... there's always some little thing they want to change, some other person they wished they looked more like. I've resolved not to have plastic surgery unless (like Sam said) I get disfigured in a fire or something. I'm never going to be fully happy with my appearance, but I should be content enough, I'm going to be stuck with it. Heh... enough of my personal ethics, I think... My history teacher (the one I've talked about many times before) showed us an article about what the perfect ideal for a beautiful face was. I later watched a TV show that said the same thing... a healthy-looking, symmetrical face is the most idealized. Then there are nit-picky things, how the majority of men like women with large eyes and long eyelashes, how women like men with a nice jawbone or something. But then, like preferences in body shape, individuals have preferences about facial features too. I really really don't think that the "beauty is on the inside" thing really works. If you're someone who slouches over and scowls at every person who passes, with hair that hasn't been washed in ages, you're going to give off a MUCH different vibe than someone who smiles a lot and carries themself proudly. I guess the bottom line is this... your body is your own canvas, in a way... it's given to you, and you can do with it what you please... decorate it with what clothes and jewelry you want, carry it a certain way, and people ARE going to judge you by it whether you like it or not...

I dont care for how I look in beauty. I have pretty eyes and lips and spiffy hair from how I look at it. I just hate my nose, it looks big from the side. And I dont care for my weight, I'm skinny anyway. And I just wear whatever I want to wear and I don't care what people think.

I agree, but you must realize that "attitude," which you have described here, solely reflects inner beauty, not outer beauty. And also remember these two things: Nobody is perfect in everybody's mind, and, as said earlier, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
