I really don't want Olaf to suddenly become intended-to-be-sympathized with by some formulaic life story. You know the deal, mother-died-father-never-loved-him-girlfriend-dumped-him thing, that would be so corny .

Yeah, in "Things you'd never hear in ASoUE" I wrote. Count Olaf: The reason why I'm so evil is becsue, I'm all along, there's no one beside me!!! Quior: THERES NO ONE BESIDE HIM!!! So, I really hope that, that doesn't happen becasue you couldn't think of a worse ending for a series like this. Frankly, I can't think of any ending that would suite me. Lemony has to make it good, or the whole series is wrecked.

yeah I agree. another thing that would be stupid (also mentioned in the Harry Potter section for the HP books) would be that at the end of the 13th book, The Baudelaires wake up and the whole "it was all a dream" thing happens. that would be lame

It is an ending that people use when they can't think of a creative ending.

haha! I used to end short stories like that when i was in grade school because I could never figure out how to end them!
I agree. I want a really surprising and original ending to this series! I'll be soo disappointed if it's not!

(This is going to sound really lame) I just wish the series would never end, because after I read the 13th book, I'm going to be upset because I'd have no more ASOUE to look forward to.

Call me crazy, but I want a happy ending. I want Count Olaf and all of his associates who chose not to reform to go to jail, I want the Baudelaire to be happily reunited with both their parents, the Quagmires to their parents, and all of the former orphans with eachother. I want Lemony and K to stop the bad VFD before they can burn any more books. I want the children to see their former guardians that might be alive, like Hal and Hector and Josephine and Ike, and I want them to be at a nice VFD stronghold honing their particular skills and learning what their parents have to teach them and altogether spending much of their lives seeing that the world is quiet again.
Which pretty much answers what I don't want to happen too.

In this series, good things don't necessarily happen to good people and bad things don't necessarily happen to bad people. We're more likely to see the Baudelaire fortune disappear through Mr. Poe's mismanagement, leaving the orphans destitute but no longer a target for Count Olaf because they have no money.

The money doesn't matter.

I agree, I don't want them to "Grinch" it. Why does the villian have to be bad because of what society has done to him or her? Some people are just more unpleasant, nasty, wicked people without a cause.

Exactly. I hate it when on tv or something, the bully is always mean for some silly reason, like...oh, who knows. We've all seen the shows where the big burly kid who's always trying to kill the smaller, "geeky" children is really just a shy, insecure young man on the inside. Some people are just jerks.
Personally, I do not know if I want a happy or sad ending. Really, it could go either way, and I'd be thrilled. As long as it's different and interesting.
And some offtopicness for a second- Shattered Peach- OH MY! EVERCLEAR QUOTING! I love them! YAY! Ahem...yeah, anyway...

I have a hunch.... That the Baudelaires DIE... See look at it this way.. Lemony is well in the story ' Alive and researchign about them', Now.... If he is older then them... and he has to RESEARCH them... Then they are most likely dead, presumed dead, or whereabouts are unknown... That is what worries me the most... I am so glad I found a place to put down all my theories! And I started a commonplace bok lol, j/k

Well we know Klaus and Sunny live, because Lemony mentions several times that many years later they would still be tossing and turning in bed, wondering if they did the right thing. Never a mention of Violet. It doesn't look good for her.

First of all you all have great points, none of which I could have said better myself . I agree with ShatteredPeach about Violet , and you know what I said about that with my fanfic. (and no she doesn't turn into Devon Sawa).

Devon Sawa should play the hook-handed man.
