What things in ASUE do you find yourself imitating in the real world, or noticing? What kind of a series of events does your unfortunate obsession lead you to?
I got the idea for this thread from someone mentioning in the LSUA board that they write notes in the Sebald code and leave them for people to find. My own example of this would be hearing strains of the polka band (3 accordians, a drummer, and a tuba) practicing from across the river while I was reading the Duchess Letters.

i used to leave notes that said "the world is quiet here" on the desks of people reading asoue. in fact, once my friend came to me and asked whose handwriting it looked like!

Ha! I go up to random people in school and ask if they've been good to their mother. Most of the time they end up looking at me funny. I'd do that on the street but I'd probably get shot.

I used to hand kids TBB in bookstores, but I stopped doing that for reasons unknown. Then I write letters in Sebald Code too! It's pretty fun. I say "Pietrisycamollaviadelrechiotemexity" during the times I'm confused. People look at me strangely when they hear me say it for the first time.

Ahh... well, my friend and I refer to each other using name anagrams in notes and such. Whenever I hear bells ring I listen for Sebald code, and in "O Captain! My Captain!" (which I memorized for English) I actually found a message. It was "O Captain!" but that's a start.... I guess... And my sister and I invented a drink called a "Citroney Snicket".

My little sister and I have aqueous martinis... water in wine glasses, with toothpicks through grapes for the olive ;D

Aqueous Martinis! That's so great. I'm afraid a Citroney Snicket isn't anything very interesting, VioletB. It's basically a lemonade slushie thing. We crush ice in a blender and add lemon juice and sugar. It's a pathetic parody of the Lemony Snicket drink DH invented (and I don't even know what that contains, so I'll just shut up, now).

All that I know about the Lemony Snicket is that it's alcoholic. Yours sounds better anyway.

Well, yeah, that's about all I know as well. I think it probably had lemons, though. I guess until I'm legal drinking age I'll stick with my Cirtoney Snickets.

Last night I dreamt that I was flying around on a jetpack for a while, then the Duchess of Winnipeg told me off for eating with the wrong fork during a screening of Moulin Rouge that was actually West Side Story.

That's hilarious! ;D I wish I remembered my dreams... I just got back from buying a stuffed crow Halloween decoration from a craft store! I'm thinking maybe I'll sew it to a hat or something...
