Just a question: Where and when did you start ASOUE, why did you start it, what book did you start on, in what order did you read the books, and how far are you currently? Please use the below form: (These are my answers.) Where: I was in school doing a reading assignment. When: During my fourth-hour english class. Why: Because the movie was coming out in theaters and I wanted to see it without getting confused. Also, other people had recommended the books to me. What book did I start on: The Bad Beginning, so I didn't get confused. What order: TBB, TRR, TWW, TAA, THH, TMM, TVV, TGG, TCC, TSS. How far: I've finished the series thus far and am eagerly awaiting book the twelfth. Other Comments: I own TBB, TRR, TMM, TCC, and The UA. EDIT: When I first picked up TBB, I took the warning on the back seriously and left it alone.    What about you guys? |

Since not everyone started on the Trouble Begins - and because it's more of a general matter - I'm moving this to Sardonic Series.
Where: At a book-store.
When: Gods, I don't know. A few years ago. Four?
Why: Mother had read a good review of TBB (I think), and had recommended the series to me.
What book did I start on: The Bad Beginning.
What order: TBB, TRR, TWW, TAA, THH, TMM, TVV, TGG, TCC, TSS, U.A., BBRE, TGG.
How far: All books currently published.
Other Comments: I read the first five in a book-store, and only started buying them at TEE. I bought the rest of the series later, though. I also have two copies of TSS - one British, and one American - as the British TSS didn't come out for about six months after the American.

Where: School library.
When: Something like four years ago, I think in the winter. I know I was in junior high.
Why: A teacher who was helping me practice for a spelling bee recommended the books.
What order: TAA, TWW, TEE, TBB, TMM, TRR,(something like that, I don't remember exactly) TVV, THH, and after that I read them as they were released.
How far: All the currently published books.
Other: I own all of the books currently published, including extra copies of TBB and TRR for some reason, and Spanish editions of TBB and TWW.

Where: At home.
When: Christmas, one year. I'm not quite sure which year.
Why: My cousin gave the The Trouble Begins boxed set to my brother and I for Christmas.
What order: The order they were meant to be read in.
How far: All the currently released books, excluding TBBRE and some of the movie-tie-in books.
Other: I own just one copy of each of the 11 released books, as well as the Unauthorized Autobiography, Behind the Scenes with Count Olaf, and the Puzzling Puzzles. I also own the board game; however, it's rather uninteresting and I wouldn't recommend buying it.

When: A year or so ago
Why: The librarian recommended them, and I had nothing else to read.
What book did I start on: The Bad Beginning,
What order: TBB, TRR, TWW, TMM,TAA, TEE, TVV, THH, TCC, TSS, TGG (In the right order).
How far: I've finished the series, and have read through it a second time
Other Comments: I own the dilemma deepens box set

Where: Book Order from school
When: I believe it was very early into fourth grade (perhaps late third)
Why: My mom made me, plus my other friend was reading it.
What book did I start on: The Bad Beginning
What order: TBB, TRR, TWW, TMM, TAA, TEE, TVV, THH, TCC, TSS, TSS (I read it twice before TGG), TGG
How far: I'm finished, but I'm rereading the entire series and I'm on TSS.
Other Comments: I own three copies of TBB, two of TSS, and two of TGG, my neighbor ruined (and I mean RUINED) my Grim Grotto. =( I did I library class about it with little kids this summer and I saw the movie seven times in the theatres.

When: 5th Grade
Why: My 5th Grade teacher read the 1st four books to the class. After that I just tracked down and read the rest of the books in order.
What book did I start on: TBB (teacher read it aloud), TAA myself.
What order: TBB, TRR, TWW, TMM, TAA, TEE, TVV, THH, TCC, UA, TSS, TGG.
How far: Finished reading all released books in the series.
Other Comments: Own 1 copy of TRR, TWW, TMM, TAA, TVV, TSS, and TGG. Own two copies of TBB, THH, and TCC.

When: About three years ago, I believe.
Why: It was almost Christmas break, and I wanted to make sure I had plenty of books to read, so I just randomly grabbed the first two and checked them out.
What book did I start on: TBB
What order: TBB, TRR, TWW, TMM, TAA, TEE, TVV, THH, TCC, UA, TSS, TGG.
How far: Finished reading all released books in the series.
Other Comments: I've read TWW and TMM in spanish, and I'm currently reading TAA in spanish. I don't own any of the books, but I typed TGG a couple months ago for reference.

When: December 30, 2004 -I know late start
Why: Saw the movie and loved the style of humor and the story line.
What book did you start on: TBB
What order: in order
Other Comments: I at first thought the Books were just a harry potter type series and so I wanted nothing to do with them. I saw the movie on christmas day and the next week bought all of the boxed sets and had to search for 10 and 11 everywhere.

Other Comments: I have the early copy of TOO the puzzling puzzles, the postcards , the behind the scenes with Count Olaf the ASOUE 2005 calendar, 2 TBB collecter's edition and of Course books 1=11 TUA and the 2 disc special edition DVD and ASOUE book marks.
