They're all good.
Really, the only thing that HP and ASOUE have in common is that Harry is an orphan and so are the Baudelaires.

Really, most new books these days have orphans for star characters. HP, ASOUE, and Artemis is an orphan too, right? Not sure never read the books.
I guess the reason they are all orphans is to make us think our lives are so much better than other, less fortunate people. I guess. Orphans are alluring in a tortured soul sort of way, anyway.

Artemis isn't an orphan, his father was missing and he otherwise had a lot of freedom
I geuss thats right, alluding to the "tortured souls" to make kids feel lucky.
