Maybe Mr. Poe has tuberculosis. That's what all the women in Edgar Allan Poe's life died from. I hear it involves a lot of coughing.
And blood.

It is quite possible, it would be a huge twist if Mr. Poe was someone really import and had much information, yet he died of tuberculosis.

Yeah I read a story about it once, but I still think that Mr. Poe's cough is important, it has to be, it is one of his few defining characteristics. Maybe if we realte this to the Cask of Amontialldo then someone possibly Count Olaf will kill Poe.

Good point, but there is much in the story to come, I mean the Bauds thought that Poe was helping them, but I think now they have reconsidered...

But as a conclusion I think Poe will play a major role in something... Like I said before Snickets characters usually have meaning, and Mr. Poe, as helpful as a jar of mustard (excuse my quoting) must have some purpose, After all he was the first person that entered the story besides the Baudelaires, and he changed their lives. Like another thread said before I am wondering now, how did Poe know the Bauds were at the Beach, he has to know something, and besides why would Mr. and Mrs. Baud put him incharge of their money and children if he had no connection to anything, especially a strong connection to Olaf.

Opps, let me correct myself, I meant that they would not leave him in control if he didnt have connection to things, but would not leave him in control if he had a connection with count Olaf. Sorry.

I agree with you! I think Mr. Poe is in with Count Olaf! I mean all the times Mr. Poe has not caught Count Olaf! He has had so many chances to catch him! It's unnerving! When he doesn't catch Count Olaf he is never upset, and acts as if it isn't a depressing moment in his day!

Actaully I think that Olaf is manipulating Poe, and that he may not know it, but Poe is definatly involved somehow.

I do worry about his cough though! I hope he isn't doomed to die in the book! Do you think he might? I wonder if Lemony Snicket would let something so horriable as Mr.Poe dieing, be in his book, but then again, bad things do happen, when most do least expect them to!
