I suppose your right though! I believe most villians could control Mr. Poe quite easily!

snicket got detective dupin from poe's the perloined letter. I thought he got Dupin from Dupe dupe n. An easily deceived person. A person who functions as the tool of another person or power. Because another alias was Sham sham n. Something false or empty that is purported to be genuine; a spurious imitation. The quality of deceitfulness; empty pretense. One who assumes a false character; an impostor: “He a man! Hell! He was a hollow sham!” (Joseph Conrad). So Sham or Dupe would be a name that meant people were being tricked. tu·ber·cu·lo·sis n. Tuberculosis of the lungs, characterized by the coughing up of mucus and sputum, fever, weight loss, and chest pain.

Have you ever considered that if Mr. Poe did die, that the Baudelaires would be more vonerable to Count Olaf! Also if another guardians did die, or couldn't keep them (which is bound to happen!) who would bring the Baudelaires to their new desination!??! He's about as close to as much help that the Baudelaires can get right now!

Dupin'? Duping?
I don't think he's going to die from the cough. He's had it since he was a kid and it hasn't killed him yet.

Yes, I see what you mean... but as you get older sicknesses get worse, and or can make one weaker, by the fact that that person is older. Prehapse he's built an imunity to that sickness though?

Yeah, I have given up my theory that Poe will die of his cough, that would be such a melodramatic ending for him!

Well if he be at the Bank, or home, or some where not as depressing or as depressing as where the poor Baudelaires are now, I can't help but wondering if he is worried about the Baudelaires, or even thinking about them in any matter at all!
