What songs remind you on ASoUE? For me, the song "Another Suitcase in Another Hall" [which is from the musical "Evita", if any of you have seen it...] reminds me of the series. Here are the lyrics: Another Suitcase in Another Hall I don't expect my *love affairs* to last for long Never fool myself that my dreams will come true Being used to trouble I anticipate it But all the same I hate it -- wouldn't you?
So what happens now? [Another suitcase in another hall] So what happens now? [Take your picture off another wall] Where am I going to? [You'll get by, you always have before] Where am I going to?
Time and time again I've said that I don't care That I'm immune to gloom, that I'm hard through and through But every time it matters all my words desert me So anyone can hurt me -- and they do
So what happens now? [Another suitcase in another hall] So what happens now? [Take your picture off another wall] Where am I going to? [You'll get by you always have before] Where am I going go?
Call in three months time and I'll be fine I know Well maybe not that fine, but I'll survive anyhow I won't recall the names and places of this sad occasion But that's no consolation -- here and now
So what happens now? [Another suitcase in another hall] So what happens now? [Take your picture off another wall] Where am I going to? [You'll get by you always have before] Where am I going go? [ Don't ask anymore]Yeah... ecept for the line about love affairs [haha], this song is very much like the Baudalaire's lives.

I've got to admit that almost the entire White stripes album "De Stijl" freminds me of ASOUE. Check it out: -You're pretty Good-Looking (For A Girl)--Duncan to Violet, or possible Olaf to Violet, even though, um, ew. -Hello Operator--All the times the Bauds have tried to get ahold of Mr. Poe. Kind of. -Little Bird--Carrier Pigeons! They're trained, get it? -Apple Blossom--Quigley to Violet. Almost a perfect fit, from "come and sit with me and talk awhile" to "lots of girls walk around in tears/but that's not for you" to the part about the boat sinking (into the Stricken Stream, get it?). -I'm Bound to Pack It Up--Beatrice leaving Lemony. It's a stretch, but go with me here. The tone is the same. -Death Letter--Lemony finding out about Beatrice's death. Can you imagine his pain? O Beatrice! My Beatrice! -Sister, Do You Know My Name?--Duncan to Violet again. See, the "back in school again" part... -Truth Doesn't Make A Noise--Well, in the Baudelaire's lives, it doesn't. -Why Can't You Be Nicer To Me?--Honestly, why Can't Olaf's group be nicer to the Bauds? Why all the hatin'? Yup. Because I? Am a nerd.

1.Scream and Run Away-The Baudelaire Memorial Orchestra- Kinda obvious why. 2.Material Girl-Madonna- Except for the end of the video, this song is something Esmé would sing. 3.Burning Down the House-The Talking Heads(I think)- Something Count Olaf would sing. 4.Class- (deleted number from "Chicago" )Catherine Zeta-Jones and Queen Latifah- Excluding all the vulgarity, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny probably think this way about Olaf and his troupe. 5.Hungry Eyes- Eric Carmen-Quigley to Violet. 6.I Believe in a Thing Called Love-The Darkness- Quigley to Violet. 7.Mister Cellophane-John C. Reilly- How Duncan would feel if he knew about his brother's affair with Violet. 8.Like A Virgin-Madonna- Violet to Olaf Quigley. 9.Ms.Jackson-Outkast- Quigley to Beatrice (Baudelaire). Note to self:I don't know why Quigley would make Violet cry,but...

hmm. oh! I have one. "I Could not Ask for More" by Edwin McCain. (such a pretty song)- Duncan/Quigley to Violet. It's a love song basically, but see the lines from the song that kinda reminded me of it: These are the moments, I thank God that I'm alive.ya know, cause their lives suck with what's been going on and they've found Violet and voila!

I forget what CD I have it burned on, but "Take me to..." from pop'n music...4 I think reminds me of Violet. "Let me to fly away, let me so far away..."
The Cardigans' "Explode" reminds me of Olaf and the troupe, and "Tomorrow" makes me think of Lemony and Beatrice. "Someone's thinking of her through the hazy scenery. Life is blue as water when you're missing somebody..."
Ugh. Sorry, I can't think right now. Got out of surgery yesterday and I'm still freakin' groggy, can't type straight.

"Take me to..." is by Sana. Probably not the one you're thinking of...
Also, I found The Best Song Ever for the theater troupe--Good and Evil from Jekyll and Hyde the musical. Lookie (taken from libretto.musicals.ru):
"Good and evil - And their merits - Men have argued through history - As well they should! My philosophy Any child can see - "Good is evil - And therefore All evil is good"
How do you tell evil from good? Evil does well - good not so good! Evil's the one that is free everywhere - Good is the one that they sell! You must decide which is heaven - Which is hell!
Good maintain evil's a curse! - But it is plain good's even worse! Evil's the one that they tell you to shun - Good is the one to embrace Say that and Satan will laugh right in your face!
The battle between good and evil Goes back to the start - Adam and Eve and the apple tore Eden apart! The key thing about good 'n' evil - Each man has to choose! - Heaven 'n' hell Is a helluva gamble to lose! - But as I peruse This world we abuse - It's hell that we choose - And heaven must lose!
Evil is everywhere - Good doesn't have a prayer! Good is commendable - Evil's dependable! Evil is viable Good's unreliable! Good may be thankable! Evil is bankable!
Evil's for me - you can have good! Doesn't suit me to be Robin Hood! S'easier by far, from the way that things are, To remain good 'n' evil Than try to be evil and good!"

This song, I think it's called "Sunny"
"Sunny came home to her favorite room Sunny sat down in the kitchen She opened a book and a box of tools Sunny came home with a mission
She says days go by I'm hypnotized I'm walking on a wire I close my eyes and fly out of my mind Into the fire
Sunny came home with a list of names She didn't believe in transcendence It's time for a few small repairs she said Sunny came home with a vengeance
She says days go by I don't know why I'm walking on a wire I close my eyes and fly out of my mind Into the fire
Get the kids and bring a sweater Dry is good and wind is better Count the years, you always knew it Strike a match, go on and do it
Days go by I'm hypnotized I'm walking on a wire I close my eyes and fly out of my mind Into the fire Light the sky and hold on tight The world is burning down She's out there on her own and she's alright Sunny came home Sunny came home... "

Clocks by coldplay reminds me of asoue it reminds me of the orphans being chased by olaf down a long dark hallyway that has no end and no hope and the song is 5 minuets long. Listen to it on windows media or real player. Very dramatic. Even though it is not on the soundtrack clocks is played at the beginning of the peter pan trailer.
