Another one, an older song... "Bell, Book and Candle" by someone called Eddie Reader, makes a good Lemony to Beatrice song. Charmed used it and ruined the song forever more.
the blue around the morning moon the colour of your eyes I remember holding you fall through summer skies you're everything that I've become every word I say I need a bell, book and candle to keep your ghost away
white horses on a troubled sea your smile will flash through time up ahead a blackbird's wing your hair will come to mind every night I see your face when I have to pray I need a bell, book and candle to keep your ghost away
keep your ghost away keep your ghost away I need a bell, book and candle to keep your ghost away
just before the thunder roars I sense you next to me and as I move through nature I know where you will be so I must keep myself apart here is where I'll stay with a bell, book and candle to keep your ghost away
And how about this for Klaus and Violet?
Jenny wouldn't tell me why she lay awake last night, But I saw her wide eyes glisten in the candle's gauzy light; When I felt her body tremble to the pounding of her heart, I reached to touch her shoulder, and I heard the music start. I sat right up in bed and flung the window shutter wide My sister's flesh was icy as she shivered at my side The chestnut cast a shadow as I'd often seen before But I saw Jenny's eyes and she saw something more--
There is something by the chestnut tree that from the barrow came; It is calling to my sister, it is courting her by name. She says that she must marry him the night he comes again; I'll be rolled in flour and fried before he'll have our Jen!

Im so tired of being here. Supressed by all my childess fears And if you have to leave, I wish you would just leave cuz your presence still lingers here And it wont leave me alone
These wont seam to heal This pain is just too real There's just to much that time cannot erase
When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears When you'd scream Id fight away all of your fears And i've held your hand threw all of these years
But you still have all of me
You used to captivate me by your resignating light Now im bound by the life you left behind Your face it haunts my once plesent dreams Your voice has chased away All the sanity in me
CHORUS
I'v tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone But though you're still with me I've been alone all along
This would be for beatrice and lemony or esme and jerome

I think that Maroon 5's "She will be loved" reminds me of ASoUE. It's not really the lyrics, but the tone and beat of the song.

I just heard THE Powder twins song.
I look carefully each morning in the mirror on the wall And see the face the world will see isn't me at all While they say it just reflects the world, that mirrors never lie It can't show you what I keep within - the emptiness inside
Don't come too near - the mirror will break Don't come too near, the illusion will shatter Don't come too near - you might see I'm a fake Don't come too near, you might learn what matters
Now the face I see within the glass is pleasant I'll admit No trace of fear or anger will you ever find there writ And she seems the sort of person anyone would want to be And I guess that's what I wish I were - someone who isn't me
In a way I'm chasing fairy tales, where nothing bad occurs Where no one ever hurts you - that's why I try to be her I try to hide myself within so no one sees too much And make myself a person that no one can ever touch
Well that person in the mirror feels no pain or fear 'tis true Before you try to be her, though, I ask please think it through For I've had to learn the hard way that she doesn't feel at all - No ray of joy or love can touch the mirror on the wall.

"I Don't Like The Drugs (But The Drugs Like Me)"-Marilyn Manson.
If you're wondering why, think of Count Olaf as the drugs and Violet.

"This Fire" by Franz Ferdinand. It's spot on for Olaf. It actually does sound like the guy at the beginning of the audio tapes. This fire is out of control I'm going to burn this city Burn this city If this fire is out of control ThenI I'm out of control and I burn.

This one reminds me of Beatrice and Lemony. It's by Barbara Streisand (No, I don't listen to her, I heard this some where else ) It called The Way we Were. Memories light the corner of my mind. Misty water color memories Of the way we were. Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind, Smiles we gave to one another For the way we were. Can it be that it was all so simple then, Or has time rewritten every line? If we had the chance to do it all again, Tell me? would we? could we? Memories may be beautiful and yet, What's too painful to remember We simply choose to forget. So it's the laughter We will remember, Whenever we remember The way we were; The way we were.

I'm probably too new to the books to have been reminded of them by any songs yet...so instead, here's some songs that went round in my head while I was reading them.
- That Electric Six one that goes "Don't cha wanna know why I keep starting fires? It's my Desire! It's my Desire!"
- Much of 'Melan Cholie and the Infinite Sadness', just because...well how Snickettesque is the phrase 'Infinite Sadness'?
- Theme from 'Twin Peaks' - There's so much in common between Peaks and Events that i keep getting reminded of the BestTVShowEver while reading them. I ended up with the theme in my head through most of the books due to... Fire as a constant motif. Child Abuse. Mysterious phrases that crop up again and again. Codes. Secret Societies. Books. Goodness to be found in small pleasures. A timeframe that's part the fifties (or thirties in ASOUE's case) and part the present. Arson. A diabolic figure wearing different disguises. Tragic endings. Lumber mills.
Oh yes, I'm meant to be talking about songs aren't I?
In that case...
- 'Wide Open Space' by Mansun, for the Bauds isolation...'specially at the end of TVV when they go on the run.
- Most of Nick Cave's 'Murder Ballads' for Olaf's troop.
- 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now' by the Smiths - Lemmony's theme.
