What do you mean, 13 books? Is that how many he's planning to write? DEAR GOD! Yes, he's writing 13 books. But that is basic knowledge.... Actually before I actually finished the Grim Grotto, I had not known this, I learned it after starting to do some look-up about the books and the ones coming out. I was a bit disappointed, I had hoped there were going to be more, the story has just started to get very very deep. It all started with them getting a couple guardians and just trying to get out of a hard time, now it's a full-fledged mystery. Really gripping.

No it is not a clue, due to the fact that it was Esme and not Lemony that was involved in that story. And I don't know how it would be a clue otherwise....

Yes, that's probably why it was chosen as the ASOUE # - the Baudelaires certainly are no lucky.

BUT if they were lucky there wouldn't really be A Seires of Unfortunate Events. It would be more like A seires of Fortunate Events.

Everybody is always reading far too deeply into these books. There are a lot of stories, anecdotes, etc., in the books which are meant for the reader's amusement. Not everything is a "clue" of some sort.

13 is only unlucky if you are a Knight of Templar in France a long time ago. It, is, kind of irritating when everyone reads so much into the details that are there only, for our amusement.

Also, it is simply astonishing how many of the people involved with the series (actual people, ie Daniel Handler and Brett Helquist and Meredith Heuer and Alison Donalty...) have thirteen letters in their name.. www.angelfire.com/ga2/LoneWolf/SnickStuff/IntMiscInfo.htmlLook at Number II, Number 3. Perhaps Snicket/Handler did that on purpose. Though the story about "I just wanted information for my book (TB8 or WYM) and didn't want to be on their mailing list so I just said my name was Lemony Snicket." Hence, the name was born. But that has thirteen letters. Subconscious mind? Eerie coincedence? 13 is only unlucky if you are a Knight of Templar in France a long time ago. It, is, kind of irritating when everyone reads so much into the details that are there only, for our amusement. True true. So true.

Johnson, you had double-posted. However, your second post was just your first post with some stuff added on, so I'm pretty sure it was an accident. Try and keep an eye out for that sort of thing, though.

" I had lunch with twelve millionaires this morning, and eleven of them said they were definitely going to attend the In Auction. The twelfthe one has to go to a birthday party. Just think of the money I'll make, Jerome!"---Esme Squalor, The Ersatz Elevartor, p. 46

She probably would've made more if the #12 had shown up.
