it takes place in the US. watch the ad, and you will see a judge slam down a hammer after it shows aunt josphine. in the background of the judge picture, there is a US flag
of course this is the MOVIE, not book series
though it would make sense if the series took place in the US. after all, snicket lives in san francisco, and snicket wrote the script himself...(of the movie)

Part of the script. I believe that he was "replaced" near the end.
But yeah, you're right. Good one, MrQuagmire.

The said flag is the one in the right of the picture? How can you tell it's American?

I read a magazine article about the movie that said that the directors looked for charactors with English accents, because the Baud's *Supposidly* came from England, but you have to remember that this was in the movie, along with the American Flag, they're making self-contradictions...

Allright, I know that there are a lot of theories floating around, but I dissagree with all of them. We can only penpoint one place at a time, because the Baudelaires travel to many places and we do not no there current location. Any body have any other ideas.

My step mom told me she read in an article that they placed it in New England in the moive, but switched up the timeline (i.e. Count Olaf's auto-lock car, then old-fashioned train, etc.) so you couldn't place it in a paticular time.
