Harry Potter is much more well-known then SOUE. Very few people I've talked to have heard of the series.

Other thing is that HP makes great hollywood movies. You get all these visual effects in every scene, creatures, magic and all that stuff, and people like that, specially children Now with ASOUE, in my opinon the books are better than HP but they are not as exciting once put on screen. Ok, I'm dying to see Olaf and the Bauds and the hurriacane and all the sets and everything, but that's because I know the story already and I know it's good. What I think makes ASOUE better than HP is the narrative, something that will be very difficult to put on screen, even if thay use Jude Law.

I know. But there's so many people who don't like HP because it's fantasy. Some of my friends aren't allowed to read the books or watch the movies, their parents won't let them.

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events:Pros:-American movie -American movie Harry Potter:Cons:-British movie Surely you have those the wrong way around. And why is American movie counted as two pros. Surely that's the biggest con of all?

Personally, I like American films better, but thats my native, you know? ^_^ I dont look at it as a pro or a con, though. thats just kind ignorant and biggoted if you look at it that way.
I think Lemony Snicket will be more exciting to watch because the characters will be more outlandish and fun. Plus, you cant help but be interested in the orphans. We all know Harry Potter and we can easily guess what is going to happen next, but in ASoUE, not everything is so obvious, so your being set up to keep wondering and wondering. The characters are a bit more explained than the characters in HP, since we know a lot of past occurances in their lives, and in HP, we only know a few of only Harry and no one else.
I do agree that the narration (being one of the primary funs of the book) will be hard to capture on screen. But that is a price to pay for a movie. Still, I think it will have the same pattern as the books do.

Surely you have those the wrong way around. And why is American movie counted as two pros. Surely that's the biggest con of all? It was a silly mistake. No need to fret about it. And no offense to the British or anything, but British movies aren't generally as good as American movies. Look at how many American movies made it into Britain, but look at how many British movies made it into America. When I browse at Blockbuster, I see mostly American movies. There are one or two British movies, but that's it. Of course I'm only judging from the British movies I've seen and the amount of British movies at Blockbuster. So yeah. Flame me.

I already put my 2 cents in. Im more fond of American movies. Now I will put 2 more cents in: The only reason we dont see a lot of British movies is....wow....I just realized something.... How often DO we see many British films in America? Almost never, in fact. But in the UK, they see our movies all the time... And British actors (the good ones) always appear in American films. The other ones are left to rot in bad films.... wow.... Okay, Im taking my 2 cents back. I agree, I dont like many British films at all. Oh well...
