When I went to Cornwall on a school trip two weeks ago, we went to this shop to buy souvineers on the last day. To get there, we had to walk up a pavement up a hill. The wind was so strong-it seriously was pushing people about. The boy in front of me, Sam, was blown off the pavement slightly, as a car came whizzing past. It missed him. The teacher, who was in front of him, dragged him away after, and smacked him right over the head.
I was the only person who saw-except for those two (duh), as I was standing behind Sam. On the way back on the coach the next day, the teacher apologized to Sam, and now he's afraid to tell his parents.
I don't think the teacher has any right to hit a kid, when she knew that it was because of the wind. I was trying to get Sam to tell his parents, because they should know what's happened. But he says he doesn't want a big thing made out of it. I'm not sure what to do. Should I just leave it as he wants, or should I tell his parents myself.
I don't want to get him angry, but I frankly think that it's for the best. I really dunno what to do.
Altogether, teachers, or any adults, don't have the right to be doing things like this, and I think their actions should be recorded or known.
What's your opinion on the whole situation?

If your friend really doesn't want you to tell someone, then maybe you shouldn't. It's not really your business and if you do tell someone, then he may not trust you anymore. In my school, people like to go in groups to complain to show that it's a big problem and it's not just one kid who has it. Also give your friend some time to think it over. He may change his mind. It may also be something that really should be left alone.

But I think that the fact that the teacher hit a pupil had better be recorded, not kept quiet.

maybe he doesn't want to tell his parents because he doesnt want to get the teacher fired or summat. Maybe he should tell the principal or summat. You could talk to him aobut that and you could probably go with him if he wants.

It's illegal to hit a student. I think if your friend dosn't want to make a big deal out of it, let him keep it private. Maybe he should tell his parents, and have a meeting with the teacher, just to let her know that hitting a student is a punishable offense, but don't turn it into somethign HUGE.

She wouldn't get fired, but it would be put on record, which to me is what I think is right.

It's not like she beat him up with a ruler for missing homework, she was just shocked and reacted in the heat of the moment.

I think if the teacher apologizes to the kid, admits what she did was wrong, and the kid forgives her, everything should probably be okay...

Yeah, I guess you're right. Sam didn't want to talk about it. I'll just leave it.

Yes. Besides, it what just a little hit on the head. My mom deals with this kind of stuff all day...
Um.. You should let Sam control it himself. My social studies teacher hits me on the head with books all the time. She's joking though. The teacher probably knew and then was joking. Then because she thought he took it personal she apologized the next day. If you look at it that way it all makes sense.

Teachers should be allowed to hit kids. The only punishment we have is detention, where kids sit in a room and fuk around with their friends. Punishment? Pf.........
S'long as the teachers don't go trigger happ.y
