Here's a translation, which is pretty much literal; I checked various parts with a French dictionary. www.piranesia.net/baudelaire/fleurs/index.php?poeme=148&lang=enOne day, on a burnt, ash-covered ground Without any greenery, as I was complaining to nature, And as I slowly sharpened my thoughts -- straying at random -- Upon my heart, like a dagger, I saw, descending upon my head in broad daylight, A funereal cloud, swollen with a tempest, And which carried a flock of vicious demons, Like cruel and curious dwarves. They set themselves to staring at me coldly, And, like passersby before a madmen over whom they marvel, I heard them laugh and whisper amongst themselves, Exchanging many a sign and many a wink:
-- "Let us contemplate at our leisure this joke of a man, This ghost of a Hamlet, imitating his pose, His gaze indecisive and his hair in the wind. Isn't it a great pity to see this bon vivant, This beggar, this actor on vacation, this rogue, Who, because he knows how to play his role artistically, Wishes to interest the eagles, the crickets, the streams, And the flowers in the song of his woes, And to recite, screaming, his public tirades To us, the very authors of these old titles?"
I could have (my pride, as high as the mountains, Dominates the clouds and the shriek of the demons) Simply turned my sovereign head, If I had not seen among their obscene troop -- Crime which did not make the sun totter on its tracks! -- The queen of my heart, of matchless gaze, Laughing with them at my somber distress And occasionally offering them some filthy caress.
I actually own Fleurs Du Mal someplace, but now I can't find it.

Note that the BBRE only contains the following lines, and none after: One day, on a burnt, ash-covered ground Without any greenery, as I was complaining to nature, And as I slowly sharpened my thoughts -- straying at random -- Upon my heart, like a dagger, I saw, descending upon my head in broad daylight, A funereal cloud, swollen with a tempest, And which carried a flock of vicious demons, Like cruel and curious dwarves. I consider this to mean that the rest of the poem is not relevant to the story.

I found it at the library in my city, but I only read the clues at the back.

I have an inkling. You know in the notes how it says (about pg29) "cardboard box that once held a refridgerator"? What if that cardboard box once held the refridgerator that is found by the orphans in Book the tenth?

Yes, I have suspected that it was the same refrigerator. That might explain Lemony's statement that anyone who sees a refrigerator should contact him immediatly.

Yes, that's feasible, but maybe it's just Handler being himself. Maybe he's just trying to make the books more ironic, and it has no real signifigance?

I doubt the fridge has any real significance....if so, then we will probably learn about it in Book 12. Hotel D. seems to attract VFD artefacts (if fridges, submarine poles and benches can be called such).

Since when was the submarine pole (or the fridge, for that matter) at Hotel Denouement? It was taken from the Valley of Four Drafts Vertical Flame Diversion and used in an un-named submarine (probably the Queequeg, but only for the sake of tying up loose ends). I don't recall the books saying that it found its way to Hotel Denouement. I see your point, though. Hotel Denouement does attract trolleys and benches, although they don't specifically have any connection to V.F.D. as an organisation - just to the Baudelaire children and (probably) Olaf.
The fridge in TSS could be the fridge that was in the box. However, I doubt it's of any real significance (again, it's probably just for the sake of tying up loose ends). (And anyway, how can you tell that a box once held a refrigerator?)

But if a bench from the Royal Gardens is there, I imagine lots of other stuff is, as well.

I forget the exact wording, but there you are.

Yes, while TBBRE really was just a money-making gimmick, those notes actually are very helpful. Noticably more helpful than the average chapter of LSUA.
