"Becuase usually if an orphan asks if anyone else has arrived, they're siblings." Lindow replied, truthfully.

Claire believed it was an acceptable answer, and followed Lindow to visit the nurse. The rotting, wooden floorboards made it difficult to walk in a straight path, and she had to constantly pay attention to where she was walking. As they passed rooms, she glanced into them and noticed most of the children in each room looked deathly ill. It appeared to be more of a hospital than an actual orphanage. She continued to follow Lindow until they finally reached a dark green door.

"Here you are." Lindow opened the door. "I ccan't garuntee what kind of a mood the nurse is in. She works a lot, once the kids are cured something happens to them. There's sickness in the winter, injuries in the summer. Depressing, isn't it?"

Claire bravely stepped inside and looked around the room. It appeared to once have been a kitchen, but now it was used as a nurse's office. The walls were made from green wood and the cabinets were crawling with various types of bugs and insects. In the center of the room was a metal table with dark brown rust around the edges. Sitting cross-legged on the table was an old lady with a cigarette in her mouth. She was a short, and rather chubby lady with an outfit that made her look more like a cook then a respectable member of the medical community. Nonchalantly, she threw her cigarette on the decomposing floor and dug her foot into the ground to put it out. "Ehh... what do you want?" the nurse sneered rudely. "Um... I'm supposed to get an examination?" Claire replied. "Ah, right right," the uncouth lady muttered. "Well, sit right up on this table, and I'll have a look at you."

I hope she isn't too rude to Claire... Lindow thought.

Claire was worried about the apparent illnesses that spread around the orphanage and hoped her visit would only be a short one. She was hoping to leave just as soon as she met back up with her sisters. The examination took less than a minute, since the nurse was eager to get back to smoking her cigarettes. "Nothing wrong with you, now go!" remarked the ill-mannered nurse as she lit up a new cigarette. The smoke burned Claire's eyes and reminded her of the night of the fire that destroyed her parents and her home. Grateful for the short check-up and eager to get away from the disheveled lady, she quickly walked to the door and was greeted by Lindow.

"Now that that's over, you can do what you want. Dormitories and bathrooms are there, door to bog is there, and everything else is elsewhere." Lindow said. "Good luck!"

Claire watched as Lindow skillfully walked across the decaying floorboards and disappeared into the dark of a distant room. "Well, what now?" she thought, "I just have to wait here for my sisters... but what should I do until then? She decided to explore the house further. Cautiously, she knocked on a door with a small V.F.D insignia sketched near the door knob. "Come in," said an undistinguishable voice.

Lindow decided there was quite some time before the next arrrival, so she went to the bog to pay her respects.

Slowly, Claire de Cerises opened the door and was surprised to find the room in complete darkness. The light in the hallway only lit part of the room, hiding the occupants. She could distinguish two beds on the left and right side of the room, but the figures were silhouetted against the walls and were hard to make out. "Hello?" Claire asked as she tried to make out the contents of the room.

Lindow held up her left hand and looked at the navy blue skeleton key tattooed on it. She sighed sadly as sghe matched it up to identical insignias carved on various wooden markers, near the name.

Klaus saw Lindow leave, and followed her. "Hey Lindow, Are you okay?" he said, as he put an arm on her shoulder.

"Yeah." She sighed. "I'm fine." She didn't even bother to look up.

Klaus really didn't want to prod, but he wanted to know. "What are you doing? I'm sorry for asking but you look really sad, and I would like to help in some way."

She gulped and asked the resident of the room, "Hello? My name is Claire. I just came here and I was...." Claire began but was interrupted by a large crash that came from behind her. She turned around quickly to find the source of the noise. A rather large mouse had scuttled on top of a weakened floorboard which had given in to the weight of the rodent. The mouse's squeals soon were muffled by the caved in wood, but the commotion distracted Claire from noticing an orphan coming towards her. The orphan tapped her on the shoulder, and she was startled for a moment, but turned around to face the stranger.
