Actually, I've several names for Mr. Handler, Mr. Handler being one of them. I adore the name 'Lemony', and that is how I refer to the man in the books. I rarely use "Lemony Snicket" because it sounds so whimsical. "Daniel Handler" when I want to refer to the author of all his books, but privately, such as when I'm writing in my commonplace book I call him "Cocktail" due to an interview I read where Daniel Handler says the following: ("I" is the interviewer, DH, Daniel Handler)
DH: Yes exactly, so I was on the phone with one of them and they said: "What is your name, so we can send you this stuff?" and I said: " Lemony Snicket." It just came out of my mouth.

DH: It became a joke among my sort of slacker clique and we would reserve tables at restaurants under the name Lemony Snicket and we had business cards made up and we would write, you know, cranky, surreal letters to the newspaper, hoping they would get published and we invented the Lemony Snicket cocktail, which was after we had visited some friends who had lemon trees and they said: " Pick some lemons!" So we picked some lemons and we had bags and bags of lemons which was precisely the plot of our friends was to get rid of their lemons, so we invented this cocktail that was, like 70% fresh lemon and some mint...
