Daniel Handler Daniel Handler is a novelist, screenwriter, and accordionist. In addition to The Basic Eight (Thomas Dunne, 2000), and Watch Your Mouth (Harper Perennial, 2002), Handler is the author of the forthcoming How to Dress for Every Occasion by the Pope (McSweeney's, December 2005).
Handler's screenplays were produced in 2003 as the films Rick (based on the Verdi opera Rigoletto) and Kill the Poor (based on the novel by Joel Rose); as an accordionist he has been most visible on The Magnetic Fields' tour de force 69 Love Songs (1999).
Mr. Handler has been closely connected to the writer Lemony Snicket, for whom he often communicates with the general public. Source. Description: Want to dress like the Pope? Well, why not? After all, the Pope is one of the most important people in the world, and gets invited to state dinners and stuff like that, and lives in an ornate place called the Vatican. You, meanwhile, are often dressed like a slob, and spend your days serving coleslaw. (Note: the last part of the preceding sentence applies only to coleslaw servers.) At long last, the Pope presents a book teaching you how to dress for every occasion, called How To Dress For Every Occasion. Get ready, get set, get into snappy dressing!
More Information. It seems that Daniel Handler is having two books coming out in the span of a year. Yzay. Discuss How to Dress...

Sounds funny, like a Douglas Adams kind of funny, at a lesser degree. Not sure it'll be worth the buy.

I don't know about buying the book ($12 for only 36 pages?), but I'd be willing to page through it quick at the bookstore. It does look funny! I envision a bunch of black and white drawings ala the "Worst Case Senario" books.

I'm certainly going to get that book, when it comes out. It looks absurdly funny, sort of Douglas-Adams-like.

Well, considering the pope wears pretty much the same outfit every time he appears in public, it couldn't be a very long book. It looks to me like one of those novelty books you find the "Humor" section at the bookstore, the kind of thing you might buy as a gag gift.

$12 is only about £6.50 at the moment, so I might be able to get away with getting it. If I can find it, anyway.

I agree; it does sound Douglas Adams-y. Quite interesting, I'll try to get it. If I do get it, I'll be sure to scan up the pictures, if there are any.

I plan on getting this book, of course. It sounds funny. My parents don't care what I buy, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Adverbs is being released in Spring of 2006.
As for this book, I might end up getting it for Christmas, unless my parents agree to let me buy it when it first comes out. Hopefully Borders will have it.

The author is Daniel Handler? Are you sure? Amazon lists the author as Sarah "Pinkie" Bennett. Another nom de plume?
