I looked on half.com and they list a 2006 edition of TB8. All I can say is "W00T!" If they're smart, they'll have the TB8 picture that's described.

Hehe. The first sentence on the site is the first sentence in the journal, not the first sentence in the introduction. They skipped it, just as Handler/Flan said they would.
I will buy this new version. My copy's falling apart. I've been lending it out, so I have someone to discuss it with. So far, no takers.

Half of the cover of mine is falling off.

I never bought a copy; I've only borrowed it from the library. Perhaps I will once this one comes out.

I knew that TB8 was being re-released; I asked Handler when I saw him in September if TB8 was going to be reprinted soon, and he said it was going to print within weeks. He doesn't like the cover of the UK editions which I have. If this edition is widely released, and I like the cover, I'll buy another copy.

Shame that there's no way I'll be able to get a new edition.

I was going to get it for my birthday but the person at the bookstore said it hadn't been realeased yet. I suppose this might be what she was talking about. I'll get it when it comes out in April/May.

The Basic Eight has a new cover. Thanks to dead_rocketstars on LiveJournal for the link. I'm seriously considering buying this for the new cover- I have this one and I don't really like it, although I adore the fact that it's signed. *shrug* Amazon has it listed for rerelease on May 1, 2006.Also, FYI: The Basic Eight has been optioned for film by Bridget Johnson, producer of the hit film As Good As It Gets. Handler's second novel, Watch Your Mouth, will be published by St. Martin's in winter 2000. Copyright 1999 Reed Business Information, Inc. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
Rather out of date, but whatever. We've had a couple threads on that. Edit: Could only find this thread, but I'm sure we had another.

Oh, that's...not what I expected. It reminds me of the Assassination Vacation cover for some reason. A B8 MOVIE?! There is a God. I've always thought it was the best novel to turn into a film, but I heard it was so closely related to Heathers that they wouldn't do a film. Thank you for posting this.

I quite like this new cover - as I've said before, I have the same cover as SnicketFires and also dislike it - and they've got the same new one on Amazon.co.uk, too. I'd quite like to get it, but I don't think I reasonably could, if it's just to get a cooler cover. *looks at Amazon UK* Oh, "Limited availability." Read, "Buy it totally used, except there aren't actually any for offer new or used, so you don't get it at all." So I couldn't get it anyway, actually. No dilemma.

Yes, thanks for posting this. The new cover is definitely an improvement on the old UK edition. I love that it says 'author of ADVERBS' on it. I don't expect that I'll buy this new version just for the cover, though.

I have this cover of it, which I prefer to the new one Is Adverbs even RELEASED in UK? I can't find it anywhere. And a Basic Eight film would be the BEST.

Adverbs isn't out anywhere yet, Dupin. It's out here in hardcover April or June - Amazon UK lists two editions, but I think the April release doesn't exist - and it seems to be out in America on April 1st, Fool's Day, or possibly the 11th. But that's just at a glance, I'm not sure. Edit: Did a search in WWriter, but we've no recent information on the release date, or even much information at all. Still, I hope that helped. Also, after an Adverbs-themed post, I remind all present that this is a thread for the TB8 rerelease, and anyone interested in talking about Adverbs might care to search around for a suitable thread (note that one of the stories was posted here) or - perhaps a better idea - start a new one themselves. Back on the topic of the cover - the croquet mallet is arguably a major part of the book, but I don't recall it being that major a motif, which makes this new cover seem rather too taken from the old one. Then again, I suppose that is to be expected. Also, noting him as author of " Adverbs" indicates perhaps that they're reprinting it at least in part to promote that - note that my older copy has a cover pointing out that Handler is the author of the Snicket series. Perhaps with the end of Snicket coming, Handler or his associates are trying to make clearer his credentials as a writer for adults, since presumably he'll be doing a good deal more of that in future. However, back to the detail of the cover, I quite like the colour and elegance of it. I rather dislike plain books, to be truthful, although I don't think that would actually determine whether I bought a book or not.
