I love the strange locations Handler has crafted, and the organisations and individuals that populate them. The setting and world are absolutely brilliant.

I love how Handler has managed to create such an enormous mystery. In most other books, you have a few mysterious things, which, in the end, all come together to form the complete puzzlepiece.
But Handler, he has distributed the jigsaw pieces throughout the entire series, and there are countless mysteries and pieces that don't fit anywhere else, nor will they ever. It's like an enormous jigsaw puzzle that, when completed, still has heaps of pieces missing, as well as countless spare pieces and odd fits.
I also like his sense of humour, and how he has been so creative with things like the different border, the clue in the last picture, the letters to the editor, the pictures of the baudelaires and Olaf on the first page, indeed, even the e-mails he has sent out.
The UE is a wonderful and incredibly creative collection of...well...everything.
In short, Handler is one of the most creative and mysterious authors I know of, and so is incredibly awesome.
Please excuse the jigsaw analogy.

I think that Handler is a genius, or the equivalent of one. I think his other adult books are extremely good books, and his children's books are excellent as well. I love his sense of humor and writing style best of all.

He's wonderfully intelligent, and I love him for it...a comic genius, yes.

Having an imagination, a great understanding for language, a vast vocabulary, and a sardonic writing style doesn't make you a genius.

How not?
I would argue, yes, it does make you a certain kind of genius.

And i would have to take Shruit's side, that yes, it does make you some sort of a genius.
