(The mass PM function isn't working at the moment so I'm breaking with tradition and posting this instead).
Dear Members,
In my opening address for 2007, I told you all to expect great things. I said, "We will re-establish the greatness of 667. We will expand on our legend with fresh ideas and new goals."
I am immensely proud to say that, with your devoted assistance and cooperation, I have delivered on that promise. This was without question the most successful year that Dark Avenue has ever seen. We survived to see our fifth anniversary. We witness the conclusion of our favorite Series. We conducted an interview with Daniel Handler (yes, thank you for your help, Sixteen). We finally managed to win our rightful place on LemonySnicket.com. And the new members are signing up every day. It was a breakout year, without question. In some form or another, you all helped bring success to this forum.
A Series of Unfortunate Events is over (?) but we continue to function at a high level, recognizing our role as both a community and a place to honor Lemony Snicket. I am impressed by the continued meaningful discussion of the Series and its mysteries. Keep up the good work. Also, a special thanks goes out to those who submitted questions for Daniel Handler back in June, and to those of you who have been participating in the Vernacularly Fastened Door competition. The efforts of the temporary Hall of Justice moderators are much appreciated.
And so 667 is entering another year. This time around, I have no grand predictions to make. We have established our place in Lemony Snicket fandom, permanently. That does not mean we won't have opportunities to put icing on the cake. Or even bake a new cake. Our ceiling is as high as you wish it to be. At the very least, we will continue to pursue the Otiose Objectives.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this forum in 2007. Whether you are a staff member, a 667 veteran or a new member, I look forward to working with you in the coming months.
Happy New Year!
- Tragedy
P.S. I am pleased to announce that Snicket will be returning to 667 as permanent moderator of Hall of Justice. Feel free to give him a hard time.
P.P.S. Hey Fancy I hope you know CPR because you take my breath away. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
P.P.P.S. My apologies to you all for that last postscript. I promise that it will never happen again. And if it does, I swear to beg ADR to come back so that Linda can hack her account and appoint you all administrators, while I depart from the forum in shame.
P.P.P.P.S. There are rumors of the existence of some kind of team on this forum. I admit that perhaps this "team" has some element of style.
