I have two questions that, I pray, someone can answer fo me. Both consist with the cronology of the history of VFD:
1) Here is some information that I have learnt after an indepth analysis of the LS:UA :
Lemony is engaged to Beatrice.
Beatrice is the lead actress in the play “The World is Quiet Here” by Linda Rhaldeen (an anagram for Daniel Handler), which is being presented at the Ned H. Rirger Theatre. It is the story of the ‘Little Sebald Lad’ and contains coded messages (including the sebald code) for V.F.D. to communicate with. The lead actress is Beatrice, who can sing, act and whistle Mozart’s Fourteenth Symphony.
Count Olaf (under the pseudonym Al Funcoot) has sabotaged the play. He now calls it “One Last Warning to those who Stand in my Way” and uses it to force people into handing over their most valuable possessions (including money and jewellery). Additionally, all the coded messages have been erased from it. The cast now includes the two white-faced women as the Defenders of Liberty and Esme as the lead actress (someone who can neither act nor sing). This is the first time Lemony sees Esme.
After working as a drama critic at The Daily Punctilio for over a year, Lemony begins a memorable week whereby he viciously insults the new production: “One Last Warning to those who Stand in my Way”.
This is retorted by Esme, who has kidnapped The Daily Punctilio’s editor-in-chief Eleanora Poe and acts under her name in the newspaper, claiming that Lemony’s review is unjustified and fires him immediately. She subsequently replaces him with one her sycophants, Geraldine Julienne, who begins writing her “Secret Organisations You Should Know About!” column (where she exposes V.F.D. using information given to her from Esme). [Possible: One of her first articles details V.F.D.‘s headquarters. ]
After an attempt by Lemony to add an additional article to the newspaper, revealing Eleanora’s kidnap and Esme’s take-over, the future Mrs. Squalor, writes again to inform readers that his accusations are not true.
[Possible: V.F.D. are forced to move headquarters.]
Lemony’s articles in the Daily Punctilio (not only offending the lead actress and the play write, but also aiming at revealing their secret plans) have now angered Count Olaf and Esme so greatly that they plan to kill him.
Jacques writes to lemony, informing him that he must flee the country and not contact Daniel Handler, Kit or Beatrice so as to save all their lives.
[Possible: The Daily Punctilio writes false articles about Lemony, accusing him of arson]
Captain Widdershins shows Beatrice the articles in the Daily Punctilio articles [TGG]. Jacques tries to persuade her that they are falsities.
[Possible: Lemony waited at the Café Kafka (until at least 4:30), while also attending his own burial, as he waits for the Prospero to arrive.]
When the Prospero arrives at 5:00, he visits it’s captain (a V.F.D-er) and departs three hours early. He now goes into exile.
This is probably where Beatrice and Lemony split up, as Jacques says he will try to make Beatrice see that what the Daily Punctilio has printed is lies. Esme probably continues to write poorly about him in the newspaper, possible accusing him of arson.
Firstly, can anyone confirm my “Possibles”.
Secondly, what do you think about when Beatrice and Lemony split up?
Thirdly, Many people say that the day that the Prospero departed early happened during TRR. This doesn’t make any sense to me, however, can anyone confirm this?
P.S: If anyone has anything to add to this timeline, feel free to say so.
2) Second Question…
Dr. Gustav Sebald directed the film “Zombies in the Snow” when both he and Olaf were very young. During this time a ‘survivor’ was kept in the snowman. No one found the survivor.
However, by the TRR the coded message used in the script still applied, only there was a new survivor…? (New snowman?)
How can this be (two survivors and same script?)
