Daniel Handler ties LS up in his basement, makes up Beatrice loving him instead of her loving LS...that's why he pretends he's LS. Daniel knows she's alive, so he stalks the Baudelaires with some insane desire to find Beatrice, who he believes betrayed him, and kill her and the Baudelaires. So maybe Daniel is actually Beatrice #2 who is stalking Lemony in those letters? You're absolutely nuts! However, I happen to like nuts. And I like this idea, for some insane reason, except for this sentence: Do you mean "it would be an odd twist if Handler was a twisted psycho"? According to your theory, Handler is the one who has Lemony tied up/captive in his basement and is impersonating LS. Do I have that right? and in your theory it's Handler who burned the Baud mansion and everyone thinks he's Lemony - is that right? Hm. Now I've confused myself.

Hi. I'm new here. I was playing around with Root Beer Float, trying to figure out what it could be an anagram for. The best that I can come up with is Flee Boat Or Rot Anyone else had any luck?

I was late getting the Beatrice Letters and I sat down to read them and after it all I was doing my math homework and I was thinking about the letters and the Lemony talked to Beatrice #1 and Beatrice #2 talked to Lemony, I think that Beatrice number 2 is an illigtimate love child between Lemony and Beatrice and that's why Lemony wont talk to number 2 because she doesn't know and it would mess with him to see her. This also could be the reason that Beatrice 1 and Lemony aren't supposed to talk anymore.
Maybe Beatrice #! started the fire to fake her death and move a long with the probably at that time Baby Beatrice #2 or at least be able to contact her and leave her clues.
If this has already been said please dont throw stones at me

AHAH ! One more proof that Béatrice is NOT the Baud's Mom ! In TBL, Lemony says that peppermints love Béatrice's allergies... And in TWW, he specifies that the allergy the Bauds share comes from the Baudelaire family. So, we can conclude that Béatrice is part of the Baudelaire family by her blood... Now, let's focus : would Bertrand had married someone of his family ? I think not. Even if DH is very interested in the subject of incest, that seems very unlikely. Therefore, that points out towards the "Bea=Baud's aunt" theory. Ooh, excellent catch. Although I don't remember that, I'll have to look it up. I trust you, though, and it makes me feel more confident in the Beatrice=not the Baudelaire mother theory. RockSunner, I really like your take on the sonnet. This is awful, but the letter that didn't reach Beatrice for a long time reminds me of the lost letter from the movie. I don't expect there would be any real connection between the two, but I just thought I'd mention it.

What TWW says is "The Baudelaire allergies are famous for being quick-acting..." which is somewhat ambiguous. The children's allergies (inherited from their mother's side) could have become famous along with themselves.
But the possibility of intermarriages cannot be ruled out in a tightly-knit organization as the V.F.D. We know Beatrice had the last initial B. even before she married. What if she was a distant cousin with the same last name as Bertrand Baudelaire?
I just noticed that BAUDELAIRE can be anagrammed to: A BRAE. I DUEL, making Mr. B. a possible co-star and a danger to Lemony, too,

Well, I just barely got my TBL in the mail (forgive me Mr. Snicket, I am not noble!) and finished reading it. And amalgamated portions of this conversation.
The "Beatrice Sank" formed by putting the punch-outs in a certain order was vaguely disappointing, I was hoping for something more interesting!
However, this whole Beatrice 1/Beatrice 2 thing is altogether confusing. Beatrice Baudelaire is Beatrice 2, but how does she relate to the VKS trio? If we go with the aunt theory, she would be from Mr. Baudelaire's side. But how would that be the only family she had left? So that begs the question what IS Beatrice 1's maiden name?
I think, in large part, what makes this so confusing is the time frame. Beatrice 2 speaks as if this is so far in the future...what with Sunny being on the radio to discuss her recipes. Then again, Lemony and Beatrice 1 (and almost all VFD inductees) were very young at the time of inception to VFD, being dragged by their ankles. This makes me wonder how old Lemony is now, and how old he was when he was a theater critic, or how old he was when Beatrice 1 died. Esme says things about Beatrice as well, as if she has already died years before...therefore it is practically impossible that Beatrice 1 is the Baudelaire mother. Which also causes me to wonder who was Mr. Baudelaire? Beatrice 1's co-star in "My Silence Knot?"
I suppose that "The End" will reveal much...does anyone think that the 200-page book mentioned in Lemony's very extensive letter to Beatrice 1 is LSUA? There are, after all, thirteen questions asked...I don't have it with me to confirm or denounce this...
I'm dreadfully sorry if anything I have had an supposed epiphany over has already been discussed.
I'm in the mood for a root beer float. Anyone care to join me at the cafe?
XOXO C.

WOW ! That would be... Amazingly cool ! But, unfortunately, I don't think so. I think I'm going to check that, tough...

Haha, interesting idea. But it could be coincidence, or perhaps Snicket modeled his autobiography off of the letter that Beatrice sent him.

Dear Dairy: I meant Handler--thanks for catching that!
Um, and I disagree with the whole Mr Baudelaire (Bertrand) not marrying into his family thing. I mean, look at the family tree in the LSUA: it sort of shows that all of these families are interrelated. Which is gross--and wrong--and...eww...but it makes sense, doesn't it? Look, for example, at the WW1 stage: all of the rulers of the countries of Europe were first cousins. Which gives a new meaning to when Snicket said that the schism turned brother against brother. And they all seem to have a lot in common: three children for example, the love of brandy, and a few others which I cannot think of right now. In my opinion, Snicket it famous for using real history and other events, as well as movies and novels, to create this semi-satirical books that we call A Series of Unfortunate Events--basically, the sad history of the world twisted in a really neat way.

Dear Dairy: I meant Handler--thanks for catching that! Which is gross--and wrong--and...eww... WARNING: CONTAINS TOUCHY SUBJECT MATERIAL. THIS IS ONLY WHAT I WAS TAUGHT BY MY FAMILY. PLEASE DON'T FLAME ME. If you mean medically, then yes, it's gross and wrong. But if you mean psychologically, it isn't wrong or gross unless they were raised as relatives. If two cousins are seperated, or are raised as friends and not family, then you can't blame them for having feelings. However, they shouldn't have children for obvious reasons. But still.

You believe so strongly in the Béa=Baud's-mom theory that you suggest that Asoue is an apology of incest ? This is SO creepy ! And, technically, wouldn't it suck in a scenaristic way ? Don't you think that Handler has imagined something more simple, credible and less complicated than... THAT ? I do agree with Skeleton Key, though... Wait a minute ! If Bertrand married his cousin, that means that the Bauds know it, and so that means they don't see incest as a bad thing, and so that means that... Klaus and Violet will be married in The End ! Violaus FOREVAAA ! ;D

Hey guys! I'm new here but I've read everything u have written. I'm still torn between BB1 being the Bauds mother, but i re-read TBL today and I'm pretty sure that BB1 is BB2's mother because in BB to LS #3 she says that she traded a ring with an R emblazoned on it and in LS to BB #5 he tells about giving her a ring with an R emblazoned on it. Coincidence?
PS: Has any1 figured out the 13 questions in the letter? how about the innitials?

Hey everyone!
This may be completely unrelated to TBL, but I do not believe Lemony Snicket is completely noble. I think there is a phrase in one of the books that said something like "Turned brothers against brothers" in relation to the schism and I don't think the coffee stain on letter LS to BB #4 is coincidential. It said in the Penultimate Peril I think that villianous people don't use coasters. Sorry if this theory has been said before.
::Edit::
Unless the coffee stain has something to do with R.

I meant medically.
And I think you misunderstand me: the books have all sorts of little tidbits from movies and stuff, as well as politics. So they are semi-true in an odd way.
Yes, I think that BB1 is their mother--because why would Lemony introduce an unimportant character? Why would he be interested in the baudelaires, then? Does he just have this thing for researching orphans? I think not. Lemony needs to tie in the Beatrices, because if not, the beatrice letters would be pointless in that respect.
