And now I can't think of the name of the guy in Pink Floyd who had it. It will drive me crazy until I manage to remember it. Anyways, I think "Wish You Were Here" was written about him, and some parts in "The Wall" album were based on him.
I get mad when people confuse schizophrenia and dissociative identity disorder (multiple personality disorder)... they're two completely different things.
My first aid teacher had a brother who was schizophrenic... it was really sad, because he was known to have violent tendencies sometimes, but he was smart enough that whenever he was taken to court to go on meds or be watched or whatever, he knew how he was s'possed to behave so he wouldn't get in trouble.

My brother has paranoid schizophrenia. He nearly committed suicide (with a letter opener thank god. If his taste in sharp instruments wasn't that bad he'd probably be dead now). Then the general hospital fuxxed him up real bad by overmedicating him so he lapsed into unconsciousness.
But he's better now so HOORAY.

it is a severe psychiatric disorder with symptoms of emotional instability, detachment from reality, often with delusions and hallucinations, and withdrawal into the self.
you hear voices and see things that arent really there.

Ooooh, and Oprah is sneaking in the bushes trying to take nude photographs of my grandmother while she's taking a shower... because that's how Oprah made her billions of dollars by selling pictures of my grandmother. CRAZZZZZZZZZY LADDDDY. SO THAT'S WHAT OPRAH WAS DOING SNEAKING IN THE BUSHES! I KNEW ITYeah, I forget how much my brother is on--I want to say around 250 or so mg, but I'm not sure if that's right. Sorry about your grandma though. I couldn't imagine living with someone like that. I'd probably go insane myself. Schizophrenia = not good.

I've not met many people Schizophrenia. I've seen a few people suffering from it, it is very sad to see. They can't control themselves, and they can hear/ see things that are not really there, but in their minds they beleive it. Madamluna, i am glad your brother is better, some people can get rid of it, some can't
