How long do you guys think it'll be? And what's this about a dwarf? I'm confused! If we need to postpone this one, no problem. Perhaps an older book would be better. LOL anyone for Ender's Game? Oh well, if you guys decide to put this one one hold, then choose away Mr.Sam.

my choice would have to be "Abarat" by clive barker...any objections?
we should be able to do the da vinci code after that tho...
the dwarf is another forum i'm on "the naked dwarf" really...it has lot's of local people so i've asked any if they have a copy of the da vinci code i can borrow...if that fails then i still have my library hold...

Ahem, I know I'm late, but can I join too?
As for my intro:
I'm Katie (Please, do not call me "Kitty", or I may have to claw your head off... ;D I prefer Kate.), I'm a mere 14 years of age and I enjoy reading...uh..a lot of stuff from no particular genere...I really like mysteries though... And...that's all.

Gweh. Yeah... I think what we should do is set a date for each book that we have to read it by, and no posting commentary before then (so as not to spoil it for anyone). Ender's game is good. I should do a re-read sometime. I wouldn't mind that, as my library card is being evil at the moment (by which I mean "I didn't take my books back and now have a huge fine, which they will not let me get books without paying"). So... The Da Vinci code will take me (at least) a week to get... if I feel efficient/lucky.

I'm Lauren, I'll be fifteen in a few months, I like to read and draw and sleep during my boring classes at school, I just tried out for the school play, and swans says I'm a witch.
So... what's the final decision for the book to read?

how about each person lists a book and people see what the probablility of having that book is so we aren't doing this kind of thing every time? just so we read them without massive gaps of deciding between each book...
whatcha think?
edit: i mean so we can choose an order to read the books in based on their availability to us...ie.. if lots of people have a certain book then we do that one early on...

Sounds good to me Sam, although the one you chose sounds relatively easy to get (hopefully). My idea for how to discuss this . . . well, some people read faster than others. The slower ones don't wanna get spoiled, and the faster ones probably wouldn't wanna wait forever to discuss. Maybe we could set aside a month for each book, open a new thread at the beginning, and just have everyone post at the very top of each comment in that thread something like:
[glow=red,2,300]WARNING: Contains spoilers up to chapter 6![/glow]
or something like that. I dunno. And we could pick each succeeding book a month ahead of time to give people a chance to obtain it. So if we start reading Sam's now, then we know ahead of time that next month it'll be the Da Vinci Code (or whatever we decide). Sic or minime?

semi-official plan for "Silly Idea Book Group"
sounds good...so we're reading and discussing Abarat - Clive Barker nowish and then next month we start reading and discussing The Da Vinci Code - by i forgot who... and when we start reading that the next person on the list nominates a book to give us a month to find etc...
does that all seem right?

DeadlyViper and I went down to the library to look for the book... "Abarat" wasn't there... someone had it out months overdue... And all the copies of "The Da Vinci" code wouldn't be available for taking out until some time in January... We were very distraught. But we spent time in the library reading the stupid teenage-section books... Made to either a) make you feel better about yourself as a teenager or b) talk about other teenagers who have such better lives than you It was amusing.

I went to the book store today, they don't have one copy of "Abarat". Maybe we should pick some books that are less in demand.

That's crazy. So in order to be able to read a book at the same time, we hafta pick a really old decrepit one to ensure that it's one nobody else wants? Blah . . . ok. Lord of the Rings, anyone? Just kidding. I'm thinking . . . I dunno what I'm thingking. All I know is that our bookies meeting is tomorrow after school and I'm only on chapter 4 of The Da Vinci Code . . . out of over 52. I'm a little less than a month through the year. Oh well. I only started it a few minutes ago.
